8 Nether Portal Sword
While building a safe base in the Nether is certainly important, you should definitely focus on getting to your destination in the first place. To get to the Nether, you’ll need to make a simple portal out of obsidian that you can ignite with a flint and steel.
Luckily, the Nether Portal can be lit in almost any shape, allowing you to customize the visual appearance of your portal without sacrificing functionality. Just look at Goldrobin’s Nether Portal as an example, since this turns the entire portal into a large sword that is thrust into the ground.
7 Nether Survival Hut
If you have just spawned inside the Nether dimension and need to secure yourself an area of safety rather quickly, consider heading over to a crimson or warped forest. Both of these biomes contain Nether trees that can be chopped down to collect wood.
This specific build is modeled after a witch’s hut, which you can find in a swamp biome built over the water. Remember that, while this survival hut is very easy to build, you’ll want to eventually expand or move to a new area once you have spent more time in this dimension.
6 Small Nether Base
While the Overworld is filled with vast oceans, the Nether is flooded with fields of lava that can kill you and instantly burn your items. Luckily, the Strider mob can walk across lava without taking any damage, so taming one of these beasts should be a top priority once you enter this dimension.
The great part of Spudetti’s Nether Base is the built-in stable that can house Striders since these mobs need to be contained or else they will roam the Nether freely. This allows you to easily walk out of your house and instantly ride a strider across any large masses of lava, ensuring that you can always use the fastest route available to you.
5 Nether Mountain Base
Are you afraid of getting blasted by a Ghast’s fireball while you relax in the safety of your Nether base? Then you should check out NotNotBrock’s Nether Mountain build, as it is carved into the side of a basalt cliff, essentially securing an area that can not get bombed by random Ghast attacks.
To make this house stand out, we recommend building a large glass window at the front of the base and surrounding it with crimson planks, as these blocks will differentiate the dreary landscape. Furthermore, since everything looks so similar in the Nether, it is quite nice to have a structure that stands out, as it allows you to always orient yourself if you are not using a map mod.
4 Nether House
Inspired by Asian architecture, AvidPixel’s Nether House features a prominent sloped roof that frames this otherwise boxy home. To build this home, collect some black stone to construct the roof and build the walls out of basalt; both of these blocks are found in the Nether.
Keep in mind that, while this home is certainly aesthetically pleasing, it lacks defenses from hostile mobs or explosions from ghasts. If you do decide to live in this house, then make sure you always have a bow at the ready in case a random ghast decides to fly by.
3 Nether Fantasy Base
If you have had the time to craft some scaffolding out of bamboo, then you should have no trouble crafting the fantastical aspects of Reimiho’s Fantasy Nether Base. This build is another house or mansion built out of black stone, stone bricks, and various other blocks that occur naturally in the Nether.
What makes this home stand out is the floating temples and light sources that dot the landscape outside the mansion, thus adding a whimsical and fantastical vibe to the entire project. Make sure that you use shroomlights to match the aesthetic of the nether, and these glowing light blocks can be found in Crimson Forests.
2 Nether Hanging Towers
A Basalt Delta is one of the many different biomes that spawn throughout the Nether, which can feature hanging outcroppings of Basalt that reach from the ceiling to the floor of the entire dimension. GeminiTray’s Hanging Towers utilize these naturally occurring structures, turning them into small rooms connected by thin bridges.
While it may not be the safest idea to construct your home over a lake of lava, you will certainly not find a cooler-looking design. As long as there are multiple basalt towers you can continually create more rooms to serve whatever your needs are.
1 Nether Castle
Just because you are in the most dangerous dimension in Minecraft does not mean that you need to skimp out on your style. If you are confident in your building capabilities and have collected a significant amount of resources in the Nether, then consider constructing your very own Nether castle.
Since the dimension is so hostile, it makes sense to construct a domineering structure that will protect you from the harsh inhabitants of the nether. Furthermore, you can use glowstone or shroomlights to add an even greater sense of superiority to your home.
