Battlefield 6 has been hacked by pirates

Surprisingly, Battlefield 6, the first Battlefield title since the much-criticized Battlefield 2042, has been hacked by pirates in 2021. This is a huge step forward in the piracy war against DRM programs, and is another major entry point in a year that has seen quite a few pirated games.

First shared in Reddit's r/CrackWatch community, a sub dedicated to tracking the status of cracked video games, Battlefield 6 has been given to the seedy underworld by Rune. It's worth noting that what's on offer isn't the complete package (single-player and multiplayer), as Corsair only had a solo campaign.

Battlefield 6 RedSec's negative reviews aren't really about RedSec.

RedSec isn't ignored because it's bad. Because it’s trendy to hate battle royale.

Equally notable is that it also requires Secure Boot and TPM 2.0, which presents some challenges for potential pirates. Battlefield 6 doesn't have Denuvo anti-piracy measures, but it does have EA's Javelin anti-cheat system and some exclusive-level DRM protection that will prevent the game from being cracked after its October launch.

With Battlefield 6 cracked, the first-person shooter joins a slew of Call of Duty titles released by pirates over the past six months, representing a rather significant advance in making a title once thought impossible to crack possible. If there's an unfortunate element to all of this, other than frowning upon piracy, it's that the Battlefield 6 campaign isn't very good.

I wish BF6's campaign was even half as good as Bad Company 2.

Ahead of the launch of Battlefield 6, it is said that the game's campaign will take cues from Dead Space and A24's Civil War films in theme and pacing. However, shortly before launch, fans noticed that the NPCs in the game were very poorly designed. It is merely a foreshadowing of what is to follow.

Fans immediately noticed that the single-player campaign required a constant internet connection despite being a solo experience. This isn't a deal breaker, but it's certainly a huge annoyance and a blow to game preservation. After playing the game, fans could clearly see that what was shown in the trailer was not included in the final game, leading many to believe that everything was abandoned at the last minute.

If all of this isn't enough of a headache, Battlefield 6 even suggests players remove the campaign to save space. On paper, it's a good move in a storage-poor world, but it became an instant meme and even more firepower for something that was already struggling to gain traction. Again, it's not just a massive development related to piracy, but also a development around a particularly unmemorable game mode.
