Now that Assassin's Creed Black Flag Resynced has been officially announced, after all the leaks, Ubisoft has revealed that it's not just the visuals that are getting an overhaul. Along with some technical changes such as parkour, combat, and chase missions, the remake will also include a ton of new content, quests, and even characters.
However, the developers decided to modernize the game's HUD and UI as well. The Assassin's Creed games already had a bad reputation for their complicated UI, and Black Flag already had a lot more UI-related features thanks to its ship combat. So the developers decided that Black Flag Resynced would feature a customizable HUD and detailed UI options.
Black Flag Resynced addresses one of the most common complaints about the series.
In a detailed post on the official Assassin's Creed subreddit, Ubisoft mentioned all the things you can change and customize regarding the game's HUD and UI. Considering that most fans will have already experienced the original, it's a great move to have the freedom to customize the UI to your liking.
The most important thing here is the HUD presets. There are four options including Basic, Simple, Minimal, and Disabled. As the name suggests, Default cuts out elements from each of the previous presets, giving you all the information you could need and the functionality at hand. The disabled preset is perfect for players who want to immerse themselves in the world and sail the seas.
Let's move on to the UI. You can remove defense indicators and enemy health bars if you wish. This will also remove the explosive parry indicator seen in the trailer. During a stealth sequence, the stealth meter, enemy outlines, and awareness indicators can be disabled.
For naval combat, you can disable other UI elements for the ship while maintaining the cannon's aiming arc. This will help you while aiming the Jackdaw's cannon while also providing a cleaner experience.
This post also includes descriptions of some of the new combat mechanics, such as the new enemy defense mechanic. This works much like the stagger meter in other melee combat games. You may want to turn this feature off as you become more familiar with the system.
