I have to say, I wasn't expecting it. arc radar I tried to keep it as captivating as possible for me, but here it is. Being more of a solo PvE player than a PvP player, I half-expected to jump in, get ganked a few times by some attempters, and quit. But amazingly, almost 20 hours later, I'm still here. The reason, I'm sure, is shared by the community, is that this is now a new obsession that borders on irresponsibility.

But I admit that I sometimes stood in line for a round because I couldn't resist the temptation to play when it was right there waiting for me. I am arc radar As a beginner, meaning I hadn't participated in a server slam before the official launch, I only had a general sense of what to expect going in. The gameplay itself surprised me. Mainly because Embark has created a PvPvE experience that effectively balances PvE gameplay with PvP without leaning too far in one direction.

Most of the time, I find myself teaming up with other solo players who are just as trying to survive as me, and that general unspoken camaraderie really makes the overall experience for me.
That said, one thing that surprised me as much as the gameplay was the very subtle quality of life features I've never seen in person in an online game. arc radar I am not the first person to do this. When I play games during the day, I sometimes keep the game I'm writing about running in the background in case I need to clarify terminology or knowledge. Plus, as I said before, I like the atmosphere. But I do take breaks every now and then to actually play. arc radar Rather than just enjoying the soundscape, I'll be lining up for a round and heading out to continue writing during matchmaking.
The first time I did this, a little notification appeared in the bottom right corner of the screen when a round was ready. “Look sharp, Radar: you’re going upward,” he said. At first I thought nothing of it. Actually, I don't know how ignorant I was at first. Maybe he thought the game window was interfering with the work window. Quite simply, I took this little quality of life feature for granted, but when I realized how boring waiting in line can be, that little feature meant a lot more to me. It's nice to know that you can get a little extra work done while you wait for the next round to start.
