The Life and Suffering of Sir Brante is available for free on Steam.

Developers Sever and Schisma Games have announced that The Life and Suffering of Sir Brante will be available for free on Steam until July 23, ahead of a “new narrative RPG set in the same universe.” And if you add the game to your library now, you'll also get a launch discount on The Life and Suffering of Prince Jerian when it releases on July 20th.

The Life and Suffering of Sir Brante is a choice-driven narrative RPG told through a hand-drawn diary that follows protagonist Sir Brante from the moment of his birth to the moment of his death. Set in the Arknian Empire, you play as a commoner with no rights or titles who must overcome “hardened traditions and prejudices” to become the rightful heir to House Brante.

The Life and Suffering of Lord Branthe will also be released on Nintendo Switch & Switch 2 on July 20th.

The game was a huge hit upon its release in 2021, garnering an overall 'very positive' review score on Steam and an overall Metacritic score of 82. Reviewers praised the game's “brilliantly written story” and “artful black-and-white”, highlighting its “captivating” world-building and “expansive lore”. Players likewise noted the “amazing setting” and political intrigue, but the review warned that it was not so much a choose-your-own-adventure as a “calculated adventure.”
