Izuku Midoriya has officially lost his One For All powers. My Hero Academia Episode 423 was officially released in the 25th issue of Shueisha's Weekly Shonen Jump on May 20, 2024. In this chapter, he utilized all his powers to crush All For One and defeat Shigaraki in battle to save Japan. At the same time, the spark that remained in Izuku's body burned out at some point before graduation, which prevented Izuku from fully becoming a professional hero.
all this has changed My Hero Academia Chapter 430 was officially released on August 5, 2024. In this chapter, Izuku Midoriya officially received the Hero Armor, which was created based on all the data collected by All Might during his battle with All For One, as well as the advancements shown by science over the following eight years.
This armor was able to make Izuku a professional hero once again, and of course he was shown rising through the hero ranks at an incredible rate. Why Izuku's growth rate confirms his future No.1 hero status
As it stands, Izuku Midoriya still holds the #4 spot on the list of heroes in Japan, but it's clear he could be set to take the top spot. All we have to do is look at his unprecedented growth rate. In the My Hero Academia one-shot centered around Eri, which was officially released along with the Ultra Age fanbook on May 2, 2025, it was officially confirmed that Izuku had risen through the ranks at an unprecedented rate. This means his growth as a pro hero is absolutely massive. It is also implied that Izuku's Pro Hero armor is incredibly powerful and has successfully replicated all of his One For All abilities. If Izuku is so strong that he can easily reach 4th place in a few months, the setup is clear for him to grow further and reach a higher rank.

In the coming months and years, Izuku Midoriya is likely to grow even further in terms of strength, and even his equipment will likely be further improved. Anyway, at this rate of growth, it's only a matter of time before he competes for the top hero spot like Mirio Togata. This will also ignite a new race for the top spot, as Katsuki Bakugo is right behind him in the top 5 spot. Perhaps, as was intended in the early days of My Hero Academia, there will be a timeline where these two compete for the top spot.
The rivalry between Izuku and Bakugo is about to heat up in My Hero Academia.

Izuku and Bakugo are central to the overall plot, and if Horikoshi decides to return, they will likely continue to be the faces of whatever projects happen in the future. Moreover, in the new Hero Billboard rankings released, it was confirmed that Izuku and Bakugou will face off head-on once again. Both of them are growing at an unprecedented rate, so it is highly likely that they will soon clash for the No. 1 hero spot in Japan. This exciting competition will once again bring great excitement to all of us My Hero Academia fans.
Unfortunately, Kohei Horikoshi has not made any comments regarding his return to the franchise at this time. The last we knew about the writer, he was working on a completely new manga for Weekly Shonen Jump and had his drafts ready as well. Since then, neither Horikoshi nor Weekly Shonen Jump's editors have provided any major updates. All we can do is wait patiently for updates from the creators.

In the meantime, we can all rejoice in the fact that My Hero Academia's ending is incredibly open-ended, and the writers could easily come back and expand on it further if they wanted to. Heroes vs. Villains is a very old story, and Kohei Horikoshi could easily provide a lot more content in the future if he wanted to.
