Eyes of Tomorrow
Deep Stone Crypt’s Exotic Rocket Launcher
- You can get the Eyes of Tomorrow Catalyst by defeating Taniks in the Deep Stone Crypt Raid.
Eyes of Tomorrow is unfortunately a pretty weak Exotic Rocket Launcher, and that’s not exactly the weapon’s fault. The market is already oversaturated with great Rocket Launchers, and there’s unfortunately just not much viability in a weapon that can track multiple targets with explosions.
Even the Catalyst for Eyes of Tomorrow can’t really save it, as kills will generate grenade energy and activating said grenade reloads the weapon, but is that really viable? Sure, throwing grenades and continuing to fire Eyes of Tomorrow is good until you run out of ammo, and you’ve dealt less damage than Truth.
Whirling Ovation
The Desert Perpetual’s Exotic Rocket Launcher
- You can get the Eyes of Tomorrow Catalyst by completing The Desert Perpetual (Epic) Raid.
What a shame to see yet another Rocket Launcher miss the mark of being OP like other Rocket Launchers, especially since it’s the last Raid exotic ever. Whirling Ovation just doesn’t have viability like other DPS choices, even if it does have some rather nice aspects.
Being able to load the entire magazine into one shot is pretty fun, and it can hit hard with a decent area of effect, but you’re just not going to get the same values as you would with other DPS choices, which means you’re wasting valuable damage numbers with this pick.
Touch of Malice
King’s Fall’s Exotic Scout Rifle
- You can get the Touch of Malice Catalyst by completing the puzzle in the King’s Fall Raid.
Visually cool, but not exactly satisfying. Touch of Malice is a literal killer of its wielder, as the final round in a magazine deals bonus damage and remains infinite, at the cost of your health with every pull of the trigger. Basically, holding down the trigger is going to get you killed.
While Touch of Malice heals you if you defeat multiple targets or powerful combatants, it’s not worth the risk when you have limited revives, and the damage output doesn’t benefit from boss rotations even with a Well of Radiance protecting you.
Collective Obligation
Vow of the Disciple’s Exotic Pulse Rifle
- You can get the Collective Obligation Catalyst by defeating Rhulk in the Vow of the Disciple Raid.
Void 3.0 is extremely powerful, but Collective Obligation really isn’t needed to grow its strength. There are plenty of Artifact mods that help Void 3.0, and other Legendary guns that use Destabilizing Rounds and Repulsor Brace that basically make Collective Obligation a waste of an Exotic slot for your loadout.
While Collective Obligation does store Void debuffs and can use them as an alternative fire mode, it’s just not a competent choice when it’s competing against an arsenal of OP exotics that can really turn the tide for your team.
Necrochasm
Crota’s End’s Exotic Auto Rifle
- You can get the Necrochasm Catalyst by completing the Bottomless Pit Quest.
Necrochasm is a safe choice for ad-clear. It uses primary ammo, and precision final blows increase the reload speed and cause Cursed Thrall explosions that inflict corruption, and if Cursed Thrall explosions kill enemies, the magazine is refilled.
Sure, it’s fun, but how does it deal with bosses? Not well. Necrochasm is the definition of an ad-clear weapon, and since there are so many other Legendary weapons that can do just that, you might be wasting your time with this weapon, even if it is safe and fun to use.
Tarrabah
Crown of Sorrow’s Exotic Submachine Gun
- You can get the Tarrabah Catalyst by completing Vanguard Ops, Gambit, Crucible, or Exotic Orders.
Tarrabah is a Solar SMG that benefits from scorching targets to build into Ravenous Beast, where you can switch to an alternate fire mode to increase outgoing damage and reduce incoming Solar damage. It’s great for ad-clearing, but it’s not something that’s going to benefit from a 1v1 boss encounter.
While it’s a fun choice, it’s not exactly the largest damage-dealer for bosses, but still, it has its staying power thanks to its rapid-fire and competent damage output that makes it a fun weapon to wield if you want some synergy with your Solar builds.
Legend of Acrius
Leviathan’s Exotic Shotgun
- You can get the Legend of Acrius Catalyst by completing Vanguard Ops, Gambit, Crucible, or Exotic Orders.
The Legend of Acrius is a competent choice for players who want an “in your face build”. It’s mainly used if you intend to get close to a boss and rapidly swap between firing shotguns, like Threat Detector and Legend of Acrius in one hard-hitting combo, as the close-range damage is like no other (even if it can be hard work to constantly swap over).
With a Catalyst that provides more ammo and an intrinsic trait to obliterate enemies with Arc energy, this is a fun choice for those who intend to stand close enough to the boss that they can almost taste them, but that does come with a few risks of getting stomped to death.
Euphony
Salvation’s Edge’s Exotic Linear Fusion Rifle
- You can get the Euphony Catalyst by defeating the Witness in the Salvation’s Edge Raid.
Euphony is the only primary Linear Fusion Rifle, and it’s a doozy worth talking about. Euphony’s special ability generates Threadlings on sustained damage, and it’s been the catalyst for breaking the game a few times to deal near infinite damage against Raid bosses in solo.
While it’s in a more balanced state, it’s still pretty good for Strand users who enjoy Threadlings, and while the Artifact mod glitch doesn’t work anymore, the stable damage provided by Euphony still makes it viable for boss rotations, but mainly for Warlocks running Strand.
Vex Mythoclast
Vault of Glass’s Exotic Fusion Rifle
- You can get the Vex Mythoclast Catalyst by completing the puzzle in the Vault of Glass Raid.
Vex Mythoclast was the first Raid exotic in Destiny history, so how poetic that it remains in the meta during the end of service. This comes from a few buffs in the final update, including how using the Linear Fusion Rifle’s alternative fire mode ignites targets, and how it can basically hold infinite ammo.
Thanks to the Tablet of Ruin’s Particle Reconstruction perk, Vex Mythoclast can basically have infinite ammo since it’s technically a Fusion Rifle, even if it does have primary ammo. For Solar builds, enjoy the benefits of your Exotic Armor and investment in Fragments and Aspects to turn the Vex Mythoclast into a healing ray of scorching death.
Anarchy
Scourge of the Past’s Exotic Grenade Launcher
- You can get the Anarchy Catalyst by completing Vanguard Ops, Gambit, Crucible, or Exotic Orders.
Anarchy is a useful Exotic thanks to its stacking damage from its sticky grenade traps that unveil punishing Arc damage on targets. However, the recent buff that increases trap damage by 30%, brings the lifetime up to 15 seconds, and brings Impromptu Ammunition, makes it far more viable than it already was.
If you have an Arc build, then Anarchy is something to build into for damage rotations, and the right build can really make Anarchy feel like a handheld Super, especially with the Catalyst providing Jolting Feedback. This is a definitive Exotic for Arc builds and those who want Raid bosses to feel the sting.
Divinity
Garden of Salvation’s Exotic Trace Rifle
- You can get the Divinity Catalyst by defeating the Sanctified Mind in the Garden of Salvation Raid.
Divinity has always been a trusty pick for Raids and Fireteams who need someone on “div duty”. Divinity is a valuable asset to any team, as sustained fire on a target weakens and stuns them, essentially making them one giant crit spot for your team to attack.
Divinity even received buffs in Monument of Triumph, where Penance deals 20% more damage, and it takes 3 seconds to activate instead of 4. This means Divinity is more meta than ever for Raids, and the Catalyst is more damage, so what’s not to love?
Conditional Finality
Root of Nightmare’s Exotic Shotgun
- You can get the Conditional Finality Catalyst by defeating Nezarec in the Root of Nightmares Raid.
Conditional Finality is a Shotgun for the primary slot that combines Solar and Stasis slugs. It’s an absolute powerhouse for crushing Champions, and it’s great to run during Vanguard Alerts and high-endgame activity (and Crucible if you want to be a menace, even with the Special Ammo nerf).
Conditional Finality’s Stasis and Solar damage means you can both freeze and ignite targets at the same time, and even with its short ammo supply, it’s perfect for those who like to get up close and personal. Plus, with the Catalyst, it has Heal Clip and Rimestealer, so you’re basically invincible.
One Thousand Voices
Last Wish’s Exotic Linear Fusion Rifle
- You can get the One Thousand Voices Catalyst by defeating Morgeth in Pantheon or by opening the final chest in the Queenswalk encounter in The Last Wish Raid.
If you told me that One Thousand Voices would be the best Raid exotic in Destiny 2 before Monument of Triumph, I would’ve laughed and kicked you from the Fireteam! However, the end-of-service update has made One Thousand Voices an absolute monster (if you get the Catalyst).
With the Catalyst, One Thousand Voices has been Taken, and it not only scorches and ignites targets, but it blights them too. Combined with the right Solar Aspects and Fragments, and Exotic Armor, One Thousand Voices competes with one of the best DPS options against bosses.
