There are so many great games. If someone spends every minute of their life playing video games, they'll experience about 15% of the worthwhile projects released over the decades, and that's an optimistic figure. Simply put, everyone misses out on a couple of masterpieces that either fly under their radar or get buried in an endless backlog of work. Don't count this great FPS game among them.
There are so many first-person shooters out there, especially on PC, that only a few titles a year stick out from the crowd and make themselves known. With the exception of a few classic games, older mid-range titles are quickly forgotten and replaced by newer, more popular titles that will eventually suffer the same fate. As someone who has a soft spot for AA releases, I love revisiting the forgotten gems of the late 2000s, and FPS games from that era have aged better than most other genres. It's not amazing, but the gunplay feels decent and it wouldn't be difficult to pick up and play these days.
