Animated Summary Movies are difficult to pull off. Often they feel like awkwardly stitched-together montages that have little coherent story to tell and end at awkward points. Peril on My Heart: The Movie It definitely has some issues, but other than one particular scene that didn't make it into the final act, I really forgot I was watching an abridged movie for 20 minutes. By focusing almost exclusively on the two main characters, Peril on My Heart: The Movie Surprisingly beginner-friendly.
Fans of animation will likely be disappointed by the animation's fragmented scenes and omission of more comedic moments, but the result is a film that flows well from scene to scene without feeling too out of place. There are a few montages dedicated to building up the relationship between Kyotaro Ichikawa and Anna Yamada, but they're so paced that you won't know they're recapping an episode worth talking about unless someone tells you they're watching a recap ahead of time.
The art direction and soundtrack really shine. Several scenes are framed from Ichikawa's perspective, providing a first-person perspective that puts you in Ichikawa's shoes. The characters are fluidly animated, and the film's color palette and the characters' fashion sense really stand out. Problems in terms of animation include the lack of proper use of CG during the film's intro and closing concert, and the excessive use of bloom at certain points. The overall music is strong and features soft melodies that fit the genre perfectly, but musically it really starts with the music of the in-universe band Primary COLOR. The main theme, Tsuzuku, is especially fantastic and ends the film perfectly.

Condensing 25 episodes of animation into a 102-minute movie is no easy task. Naturally, anyone other than Ichikawa or Yamada has basically no character development in the movie. The supporting cast is very poorly defined. This is rarely a problem because the movie simply focuses on the romance and does a great job of it. However, there is a final scene where Ichikawa makes friends and reflects on the fact that he grew out of a shell that simply couldn't land. Because as far as the movie is concerned, nothing was really seen.
But this isn't a big problem. Peril on My Heart: The Movie It makes the right choice in making Ichikawa and Yamada's relationship the core of the story. Anime romances have a bad habit of burning too slowly and dragging out their love stories; Peril on My Heart: The Movie It's surprisingly concise, building relationships and growing characters with each scene. It's a testament to the film's strong source material that the character development still has the same emotional depth and appeal seen in the comics and animation.
Ichikawa's growth from an anxious loner is definitely more intense in the anime and manga where we see his gradual development, but his romance with Yamada honestly works a little better in the movie thanks to the tighter pacing. With less teasing and more focus on actively building towards the film's ending, it actually sticks the landing in a way that few animated romances ever do.
Danger in My Heart avoids the pitfalls of anime romance with an ending that actually commits.
By far the best part is Peril on My Heart: The Movie The fact is that the story is actually willing to commit to romance. Animated romances too often ebb and flow, drawing things out with constant teasing and relationships that don't feel concrete. Confessions and kisses are often saved until the end of the series (even if anything happens), resulting in unsatisfying arcs that drag the story along too far.
Peril on My Heart: The Movie Thanks to a new scene at the end of the Karte 127 adaptation, this problem doesn't arise at all. danger in my heart comic book. Ichikawa and Yamada's relationship is fully developed and fleshed out, giving their big moment at the end of the film a lot of weight. Knowing that there's more story left to come and that the manga continues to flesh out the romance makes the ending more difficult.
