What year has it been for Warhammer? The new version of the Horus Heresy has been released with plastic Saturn armor for the first time. However, if I get the chance, I plan to turn those Terminators into an Obliterator unit. The Old World also grew stronger with the launch of the Grand Cathay faction. These are some of the best miniatures Games Workshop has sculpted using the spooky rules in some time.
The video game sector hasn't been very successful. Space Marine Remastered was a huge failure, and while Space Marine 2 in 2024 continues to draw players in, two of its important characters were unceremoniously killed off in a blog post to allow Titus to get promoted.
But what about next year? Those of you who can count to three will expect the 11th edition of Warhammer 40k to be released next summer. Dawn of War 4 promises to be a return to the glory days of RTS action after the trilogy's disastrous showing eight years ago. It's an expectation rather than a prediction, but I consulted Orikan's skill scrying and executed 12 psykers to bring you TheGamer's predictions for Warhammer in 2026.
Lion el'Jonson causes mayhem
Dawn of War 4 is expected to cause the first controversy in 2026. By introducing the first playable Primarch in a Warhammer video game, developer King Art Games is practically begging for criticism. That guy is so strong! He's not strong enough! The voice actor is not Charles Dance!
Warhammer fans will never be happy, and Lion's successful digital debut will be marred by those who simply can't enjoy it. But as someone who aspires to bring all of Deathwing to the top, I couldn't be happier.
plastic warhound titan
It's been rumored for a while, but now that the Workshop's new factory is under construction, it's assumed that there will be new and improved machinery within those hallowed walls. These tools, blessed by the Omnissiah, will begin the production of massive legions of war machines the likes of which we have never seen before. At least it's not plastic.
With Warhammer 40,000 games getting bigger and bigger thanks to scale expansion and constant point reduction (since when was my Ad Mech a Horde army?), it's only a matter of time before you can field a Warhound Titan in a 2,000 point battle. The only question is whether it will balance out or not. I know what my money is.
Kislev Released for the Old World
Warhammer: The Old World was a huge success, with the Grand Cathay faction icing the mooncake. Next on the list is Kislev, a long-forgotten faction that Workshop teased before being put on hold a few years ago due to Russia's invasion of Ukraine. The newly minted FTSE500 company based in Kievan Rus could not afford the controversy surrounding these kinds of miniatures.
But the ongoing invasion has been largely labeled by the public, and the plight of Ukrainian soldiers barely registers in the national news anymore. So I could see gee-dub finally unleashing the Kislev forces to keep the Old World's momentum strong. To be honest, I mostly want a plastic war mammoth, but I can easily see this sliding to 2027 or 'whenever President Putin gives up.'
More Primarch, More Often
Listen, I can choose the easy prediction. Any idiot could guess that Workshop would reverse the terrible Ork Boyz changes. 11th edition will likely focus on Fast Attack for Space Marines. Ultramarine supplements will also be released before the 11th. But you're not here to make safe predictions. I know you. I'd like to see more Primarchs return.
The supposed focus on Primaris bikes in the 11th edition helps the idea that Jaghati Khan could make a comeback. And I understand it. He is a cyclist. But the safe money is on Russ since GW appears to have leaked what they added to the Space Wolves Codex with future compatible rules. I'd love to see Ferrus Manus return in the form of a Ghost Rider-esque Primarch of the Legion of the Damned. Please also do a Range Refresh for them. But it would probably be Russ.
Dark Mechanicus Revealed
Okay, this is more of a wish list than a prediction. But you must allow me one dream. I think I'm probably the biggest Dark Mechanicus fan in the entire universe, and for years I've wondered when Workshop would make an official mini for my beloved faction. Even though Vashtorr seems to be out for a while, I support him to bring things to me next year. I just hope the GW sculptors can live up to my cursed creations.
Henry Cavill stars as Captain Titus in the Amazon TV show
We're sure we'll hear news about Cavill's Amazon show in 2026. It may even enter the pre-production phase. And my prediction is that the news will be a casting announcement. Cavill is Titus. The show will follow his quest to defend the 500 worlds of Ultramar. I know you all want the Horus Heresy, but where does the face of 40k fit into that?
I've seen Guilliman, Dorn, and the Emperor himself on Cavill fancasts, but none of them really hang out. Mark Strong would be a better Eisenhorn, but there's no way a live-action 40k show wouldn't have a Space Marine front and center, so the point is moot.
But Captain Titus has just been promoted. His Ultramarines compatriots Captain Acheran and Lieutenant Chairon are killed outside of the games and animated shorts to fast-track his return. I'm sure Titus will be the virtual face of 40k going forward. So why not have Cavill, the celebrity face of the hobby, take up the mantle?
The two don't seem all that different, especially since Titus has lost some of the standout features of the first game and grown more traditionally charming with each appearance.
Two video games, a promo, an Amazon short, and more are all coming to Titus. He's the head of Space Marines 3 and my guess is he's being groomed to be the star of a TV show too. If I'm right, Henry Cavill needs to fight me as soon as possible.
Maybe there's something for Age Of Sigmar.
Listen. I don't play AoS. I don't know what's going on there. I think we can get Stormcasty? 2026 will be 40,000 years, much more than usual. sorry.
