In most cases, emotes and other cosmetic items fortnite Revisit the item shop again and again to ensure players who missed it the first time can get the items they can. But sometimes some items appear a few times a year and then disappear, never to be seen again.
There may be a controversy over the emote, there may be licensing issues, or the developer may have forgotten that the emote exists. Whatever the reason for its disappearance, the emote will become the rarest item in the player's inventory. Some cosmetic items are rare because they are Battle Pass exclusives, but this list only pertains to the Item Shop.

Pump it up
You'd assume Fortnite would bring back seasonal spooky emotes every Halloween, but that hasn't been the case in some cases, including Pump It Up.
It starts with a simple dance and your character's head turns into a pumpkin with glowing eyes. It first appeared in the Halloween Item Shop in 2019 and has appeared every Halloween for the next several years, but has not been available for purchase since 2022.

Trinity's Kick
This iconic Trinity move is taken from the movie blockbuster The Matrix and first appeared in 2021 with Neo's Bullet Time. It can be purchased alone or as part of the White Rabbit bundle.
It seemed like it would be quite popular and appeared in stores 24 times between 2021 and 2022, but it hasn't appeared once since. I'll probably add it again when the movie becomes popular again.

Neo's Bullet Time
Like the Trinity emote above, this cool emote is pulled from a memorable moment in the Matrix movies. Appeared in the Item Shop along with Trinity's Kicks and White Rabbit Bundle.
This emote will likely be popular when it returns to the item shop, as it's been three years since anyone saw it. The Matrix remains a favorite of many movie buffs and pop culture fanatics.

leave the door open
The first Icon Series emoji on the list, this one was based on the man's own dance moves. Bruno Mars choreographed the dance and co-wrote the song Leave The Door Open with Anderson Paak.
This emote has only appeared 41 times in 18 months from 2021 to 2022, and has not been in the Item Shop since October 2022. It's surprising that this emoji hasn't come back, especially since Bruno Mars was part of Music Pass as recently as 2025.

team tomato
Was it Team Tomato? Or Team Burger? A lot of the players seem to be Team Burger. That's because that emote doesn't appear anywhere near the top 25 rarest emotes.
Those of you from Team Tomato will be proud of your alliance with salad fruit. You may be a small team, but you are an honorable team. This scorecard emote has been re-created for future battles such as Team Monster vs. Team Mech.

look
The Look is part of the Balenciaga set, and although Balenciaga cosmetics have returned to stores a few times, this emoji has not. We haven't seen The Look in the Item Shop for over 3 years, after about 30 brief appearances.
The Look's song was written and produced by French musician BFRND, who has composed soundtracks for fashion brand runways.

crane kick
This emote will be a favorite of any kid new to karate when it first appears in stores for Lunar New Year 2021 as well. It returned 22 times between then and September 2022, but has not graced the Item Shop since.
Never say never. However, it's clear that Fortnite hasn't even thought about this emote for a long time. If Karate Kid gets another movie or TV series, this emote may appear again.

Smile
Laugh It Up is a controversial emote because it is so offensive. It was so universally hated (by the players it was removed from) that Fortnite had to put it in its own category called 'Confrontational Emotes', along with Take The L and Toxic.
This emote will likely never appear in the Item Shop again, not until September 2022. What emotes would you like to see banned from the Item Shop?

bucket
It's all net! This simple yet effective emote shows the character quickly throwing a basketball, giving him a quiet confidence, especially after a win.
Despite being inoffensive, cheap, and simple, this emote has only appeared in the Item Shop a few times between 2019 and 2022. You can easily come back with basketball skins.

Flex On'Em
Flex is part of the Hang Time set, along with the Buckets emote above. Another simple and short emoji that shows confidence and pride after a win.
Since its launch in 2019, it has appeared only nine times until its last sighting in March 2022. There's no real reason it didn't return, but perhaps it just wasn't that popular when it was added to the store.
