Clair Obscur: Expedition 33's Game of the Year update brings a more powerful version of the game's toughest boss, Simon The Divergent Star. However, the additional pictos and weapons that come with the update mean one talented streamer has already figured out how to defeat the new and improved Simon in one hit.
BltzZ got to work as soon as the update was released, combining pictos and creating the most effective build for Expedition 33's upgraded Simon. With no weaknesses and the ability to wipe out a party in one hit, Simon was a powerful enemy seen in The Continent even before the update.
How to hit Claire's upgraded Simon with 1.1 billion damage at once
The idea that Simon has somehow become much more powerful is scarier than it is for someone like me, whose build rarely gathers moves beyond the maximum 9,999 damage he can deal during the first two acts of the game. However, this is not the case for BltzZ, who already has Maelle, who can empty Simon's health bar in one move.
Applying Oblique Charge and Fortune's Fury for double damage, Maelle attacks Simon with Burning Canvas while in Virtuose Stance, dealing 200% more damage. Burn is already stacked up to 116 for Simon. This means that after dealing only one damage to Simon for the first four Burning Canvas attacks (all marking their targets), the fifth time Maelle attacks the enemy, she actually slams the hammer down.

Clair Obscur can be difficult, but these bosses are on another level.
So much so that the fifth and final blow inflicted over 1.1 billion in damage to poor Simon. To be exact, 1,105,130,342This is enough to wipe out all of Simon's HP in one move, despite his big, old health bar. That's impressive, but BlttzZ points out that number can almost certainly be higher with practice.
Maelle's New and Improved Move Could Cause $3 Billion in Damage
They point out that when used against other powerful enemies, the damage dealt in a single hit using this Maelle build can reach up to 3 billion. Maelle's shield can help you get 1.1 billion to almost triple that number, but that's not possible against Simon since he can't use his shield. But if you get to over 1.1 billion Divergent Stars without them, that doesn't really matter and anything more is just a show off.
Expedition 33's “Thank You” update includes more than just a powerful Simon boss fight aimed solely at Clair Obscur assholes. Verso's Drafts takes place in a completely new, unexplored territory. There's more story to uncover, secrets to unearth, and boss fights that don't require a build to inflict billions of dollars in damage. There's a new Easter egg waiting to be discovered in the village of Gestral, but I won't spoil what it is for those of you who want to go find it yourself.
