Metroid Prime 4: Beyond Players will encounter the Carvex boss in the Garden of Remembrance area of Fury Green. This is the game's second major boss fight, and like Aberax before it, those hoping to beat Carvex will need to utilize skills learned a bit earlier in the game.
Every Metroid game ranked, from worst to best.
Unlike Nintendo's other properties, Metroid games vary widely in quality, and we've ranked every game in the series from worst to best.
The key to defeating Carvex is exposing its core, which can be done by destroying all of its tentacles at the same time. The first phase of the fight is relatively simple, but as more tentacles begin to sprout, some Metroid Prime 4: Beyond Players may experience difficulties. Fortunately, defeating Cavex isn't that difficult.
How to Beat Carvex in Metroid Prime 4: Beyond
To damage Carvex, players must first destroy its tentacles and expose its core. At first you only have one tentacle to worry about, but as the fight progresses two more tentacles will sprout. Tentacles will respawn 1-2 seconds after being destroyed, so players will need to find a way to get rid of them. Destroy all of Cavex's tentacles at the same time. The solution, of course, is Samus' recent acquisition. control beam.
To use Control Beam, players must press X to switch to the Psychic Visor and then hold A or ZR to charge the attack. When you release the button, Samus fires a purple beam that can be controlled with the right analog stick or motion controls. The goal here is Guide the beam through the weak spot in the center of each tentacle without hitting any obstacles.. If all goes as planned, Carvex's core will be exposed, allowing players to initiate an explosion.
Players should take a moment to scan Cavex before defeating him. However, if you forget, you can obtain Cavex's log file in the Guardian's Sanctuary area shortly.
It is important to note that before using the control beam, players must: Use Samus' standard blaster to destroy the outer casing that protects each tentacle's weak point.. Shooting too many exposed weak points will destroy the tentacle, so make sure to stop shooting once the spikes are removed. If you destroy the tentacle early, you'll have to wait for it to respawn and try again.
The first stage of the Carvex fight only has one tentacle. The next two stages have 2 and 3 tentacles respectively, while the final stage has 3 tentacles and a vine wall that the player needs to get through the control beam. When not busy destroying Carvex's tentacles, players should focus on dodging them, which can be done by strafeing from left to right or jumping when using a spin attack.
To destroy the core, missiles are the best option. The player can obtain more missiles by destroying the spinning metal spheres that Carvex occasionally fires. As an added bonus, charging the control beam will automatically attract nearby missiles or energy balls. After firing enough missiles, the boss will finally be defeated and the player will receive a psychic bomb as a reward for their trouble.
