After the end of Solo Leveling Season 2 on March 30, 2025, the series was put on hiatus, but on June 9, 2026, production of a third season from 2027 to 2028 was officially confirmed. Meanwhile, Sung Jin-woo is making a comeback with his spiritual successor in a new anime that is set to be a hit among all fans of Solo Leveling. The new character in this animation is none other than <서주헌>is the main character of Tomb Raider King.
Tomb Raider King is an action-packed manga-based anime scheduled for release in July 2026. A new trailer was recently released, showing the protagonist embodying Jinwoo as perfectly as other anime characters from the past.

Solo Leveling follows Seong Jin-woo as he levels up as a hunter, while Tomb Raider King follows subdued MC Seo Joo-heon, who gets another chance with system powers, but he increases his power by hunting artifacts in tombs. Both series are very action heavy and that is one of the main attractions.
Tomb Raider King is also a comic-based series. solo leveling. This story was written in web novel format by Jiksong Sanji and serialized from November 1, 2016 to May 4, 2018, and was produced as a comic by Redice Studio from June 30, 2019 to March 27, 2023. Redis Studios is the same company behind Solo Leveling, which only highlights the similarities.
Earlier today, the official animated opening for Tomb Raider King was revealed for June 13, 2026. The anime showcased incredible action and surprised fans who expected little from this solo leveling imitation anime while also getting us all excited for what was coming next. Why Seo Joo-heon is Sung Jin-woo's spiritual successor
The biggest reason why Seo Joo-heon is called the next generation Sung Jin-woo is because of his tremendous aura and fighting style that emanates from the new opening, which was officially released on June 13, 2026. In this new work, Seo Joo-heon fights while wielding a dagger like Jin-woo, and his close-quarters combat is reminiscent of our beloved Shadow Lord. Moreover, the personality of this new protagonist is very similar to Seong Jin-woo from Solo Leveling. Seo Joo-heon is engulfed in overwhelming energy and an aura of invincibility, which is clearly revealed in the opening of the new film. Rather, this further strengthened the comparison with Sung Jin-woo.
There are more similarities between Sung Jin-woo and Seo Joo-heon, but a lot of them come from Redice Studio. The studio is particularly known for creating similar designs in various web novels that have been adapted into comics, with the protagonists of Solo Leveling and Tomb Raider King being prime examples. As soon as the first trailer for 'Tomb Raider King' was released, many people thought that Seo Joo-heon was Sung Jin-woo.
Solo leveling can certainly be said to be a revolution in the comics genre, so it's not impossible to draw inspiration from it, but many of the similarities could also be due to coincidence or the work of Redice Studio. Either way, a series reminiscent of Solo Leveling will be interesting without Jin-Woo due to project delays and future seasons still in the works.

A recent investment report revealed that Solo Leveling Season 3 is a project currently under investment. The report also confirms that Solo Leveling Season 3 is set for a 2027 or 2028 release. This is exciting, but it's still a long wait considering it won't come before 2027.
For the time being, fans can rewatch previous Solo Leveling seasons, all available on the Crunchyroll platform. Or, if you're a big fan, you can also enjoy the Solo Leveling video game. Solo Leveling: Arise and Overdrive are already available and are receiving new content frequently. Solo Leveling: Karma is scheduled to be released in 2026 to expand the series' story with a new and exciting storyline.
