Last year, Microsoft and Xbox made waves when they announced major changes to their popular Game Pass subscription service. It eliminated the Core and Standard tiers in favor of Essential and Premium, and increased the price of the Ultimate tier by $10, increasing its monthly cost from $19.99 to $29.99.
“It’s part of our promise to meet players where they are, so they can choose the benefits that best suit them, no matter how or where they play,” the company said at the time.
Xbox's future hangs in the balance following Phil Spencer's retirement.
Microsoft is making big changes to the Xbox brand, but few of them are good.
Now, in less than a year, a brand-new Game Pass tier could be coming to Xbox gamers. This focuses on first-party releases and only those releases.
Its exclusive Game Pass tier may be attractive to some gamers.
As first reported by Windows Central, “Triton” is the actual name of the new Xbox Game Pass tier that focuses only on Microsoft's first-party titles.
It's unclear at the moment how much this future program will run on a monthly and annual basis, but the offering remains firmly rooted in exclusives that people want access to without the added costs of third-party and indie releases.
Here is a list of rumored titles:

As you know, these games are all either owned by Microsoft after multiple acquisitions or first-party games released after being approved by the company. What you don't see are titles that debuted on Game Pass or were added post-launch, like Clair Obscur: Expedition 33 or Kingdom Come: Deliverance 2.
If this comes to fruition, this could be another move from new Xbox CEO Asha Sharma. As Windows Central previously reported, Sharma is “considering how to make consoles and products like Game Pass more attractive to a broader audience in the future.” This could include a price cut, but it could also revolve around additional features or meet gamers where they are.
In this case: I want to play an Xbox exclusive game.
Ultimately, cost will be the biggest obstacle to overcome. And the same goes for expensive exclusives like Call of Duty, whether they'll debut on the service as date-and-date titles or at a later date. It was previously reported that Game Pass's COD cost Microsoft $300 million in revenue, so there are a lot of factors that could affect what kind of games are added and when.

Does anyone want to play Skyrim again because of Crimson Desert?
I really enjoyed my time in the Crimson Desert, but after almost 200 hours it was time to revisit the old world again.
