The 2000s had some of the most iconic shonen anime that fans still love to this day. Series like Naruto, One Piece, Bleach, and Fullmetal Alchemist defined the decade, along with other notable hits. But not all can be hits.
There were a ton of great shonen titles in the 2000s, but there were also some mediocre series along with some that really stunk. This is the most boring, or even worse, downright terrible shonen anime the last decade has offered.

2000: Boyz B…
The 2000s were full of romantic comedies, and while some were good, most weren't very interesting. Boyz B… is an anthology series that follows various teenage romances, focusing on the romantic adventures of Kyoichi, Makoto, and Yoshihiko.
The series suffers from not-so-great animation quality, and while it initially started out as a novel approach to the genre, it got stale pretty quickly. Because the series is short, it feels like not everyone got adequate time to develop. If you really want to check out this series, the manga would be better.
2001: Babel II: Beyond Infinity
This is a modern reinterpretation of Mitsuteru Yokoyama's classic manga from the 70s. Babel II: Beyond Infinity This is an example of why some series don't need a modern adaptation. When Koichi discovers that he is the reincarnation of the alien guardian of Earth, he is forced to take on that role. Koichi, along with three other guardians, sets out to protect the Earth from danger.
Babel II: Beyond Infinity It can be a fun action series at times, but it doesn't really offer much more to the viewer. It seems okay at the time, but nothing notable happens in terms of story progression or character development.
2002: Barom 1
This is another modern adaptation of a 70s cartoon. Barom 1 It follows close friends Takeshi Kido and Kentaro Shiratori. When they are attacked by strange creatures, they hear a voice telling them that they have inherited mysterious powers. When the two join hands, they transform into Barom One, an incredibly powerful monster that allows the boys to protect those around them from harm.
The series does some interesting things, mainly the two-in-one transformation that Takeshi and Kentaro undergo. But it looks and feels like a low-budget series, and with only 13 episodes, it's not enough to leave a lasting impression throughout its entire run. Tokusatsu fans will love this series.
2003: Narue's World
while Narue's World It's not necessarily terrible, and it doesn't do anything remotely interesting or noteworthy. The series follows Kazuto Iizuka, who is rescued by his school friend Narue after being attacked by an alien monster. The surprises don't end there, as Kazuto discovers that Nanue himself is an alien.
The series is a very light-hearted watch with typical 2000s boy antics and a bit of light romance. Narue is a fun character at times, but she and Kazuto aren't interesting enough to carry the series forward.
2004 Hanaukyo Made Team La Verite
It is a remake of the 2001 series. Hanaukyo Maid Team, La Verite It's standard boy fare from the early 2000s. The series was born when the original animation was discontinued due to production issues. But the Daume team didn't have much trouble in the second.
After his mother dies, Taro is sent to live with his grandfather. But when he gets there, he discovers that his grandfather has retired and left him his fortune, leaving Tarot alone with many beautiful maids to wait on him. This is a very standard, clichéd harem setup with excessive fan service and mediocre animation that makes Hanaukyo Maid Team: La Verite just another mediocre entry in the sea of 2000s harems.

2005: Jinki: Expand
If you're a mecha fan looking to try something new, there are plenty of better options than these: Jinki: Extend it.. The series follows Aoba, a robot enthusiast who is kidnapped one day and taken to a secret base, where he discovers a real-life giant robot. The robots are used to fight something called Ancient-Jinki, but their reasons remain a mystery to Aoba. Aoba, with his dream in sight, begins to control his own machine.
The biggest problem is Jinki: Extend it. Inconsistent quality. It's an interesting series, but it can't really carry its momentum across the entire 13-episode series. In the second half of the series, things fall apart and overall it comes off as a rushed, incomplete product that isn't worth your time.
2006: Donagura!
Kazuki has been desperately waiting for his old neighbors, especially Yuji, his childhood crush, to return to his hometown for 10 years. However, when Yuji and his family return, Kazuki is shocked to discover that Yuji is a huge lecher. As the two reconnect and try to attend the same school, things don't go exactly as Kazuki expected.
Tonagura! It won't wow you with its premise, but it can be a fun guilty pleasure at times. The problem is that the series is incredibly repetitive, with the gags and Yuji's antics getting old pretty quickly. There were a ton of ecchi comedies in the 90s and 2000s, and some of them were great. Tonagura! It's not noticeable.
2007: Nagasarete Airantu
When Ikuto fights with his father, he runs away from home on a boat. But when Ikuto is thrown overboard, he miraculously ends up on a tropical island full of girls. As the island's male population is swept away by the waves, Ikuto quickly becomes the object of the girls' affection.
Nagasarete Airantu It's another 2000s harem comedy that relies on overused tropes and recycled jokes. It may be an enjoyable enough watch for fans of the genre, but it does nothing to make it stand out from many other similar series.
2008: For the Love of Lou
Rito Yuuki's life is turned upside down when a runaway alien princess named Lala Satalin Deviluk crashes into his home and decides to stay there. In order to stay on Earth and avoid returning home, Lala announces that she is marrying Rito. The only problem is that Rito already has someone he likes, and Lala's antics and unwanted affections bring steady chaos to Rito's ordinary life.
If that setting sounds familiar, you're probably a fan of Rumiko Takahashi. Urusei Yatsura. To love Lou It's not the worst harem anime from the 2000s, but there were a lot of better anime from 2008. Soul Eater, Black Butler, Aria the Origin, and Major S4 These are just a few of the better options 2008 has to offer. The series utilizes all the classic harem tropes, notorious for providing too much fan service. This anime is a true 'guilty pleasure' anime with some funny moments that don't really add up to being a middling adaptation of the manga.
2009: Samurai Harem
After training in the mountains with his father his entire life, Yoichi is sent to a city dojo to continue his training, hoping to improve his skills and learn more about modern society after a lifetime of isolation. The problem is that Yoichi only knows how to act like a samurai. As Yoichi comes to live with the Ikaruga sisters at the dojo, he begins to understand the modern world and clear up various misunderstandings.
samurai harem The name tells you everything you need to know about it. This series is nothing special, and if you've ever seen a slapstick harem, a lot of it will be familiar to you. samurai harem must be provided. It has some moments and the setting isn't bad, but there are better animations.
