BJ Blazkowicz and the Wolfenstein series have been pretty quiet for the past few years. MachineGames found success with Indiana Jones and the Great Circle, but the studio has stated that it will go back to making Wolfenstein 3. Sources also claim that development is already underway.
Other details have not been officially released, but it appears that some of the story content has been revealed through a casting call. According to MP1st, the project is currently codenamed 'Valkyrie' and has performance director Tom Keegan and casting director Emily Schweber attached. The casting call itself is for a character named Sofiya, but that will likely change in the final game.
Wolfenstein 3 Plot Details Revealed
Sofia is described as an 8- to 11-year-old orphan from Ukraine. She has a dog named Ralph, and they both form a bond with Blazkowicz and his crew, traveling with them throughout the game. This also confirms that Blazkowicz will indeed be returning to the series. The casting call also includes a brief description of Sophia.
“Although initially suspicious and traumatized by the war, she blossomed into a strong-willed survivor under the care of the resistance (possibly a reference to the Kreisau Circle).” Performance capture for the role is scheduled to begin in April, with additional filming scheduled for late 2026 and extending into 2027.
If Wolfenstein 3 is real, we should finally be able to take down Hitler
According to recent reports, Wolfenstein 3 is in production by MachineGames.
We don't yet know exactly what Sofia's role will be. Maybe she'll be rescued by Blazkowicz and drafted into his crew. The shooting date also gives us a clearer idea of when the game could be released, and it's definitely not before the end of 2027. No other details were provided in the casting call. Also, at the risk of reading too much into the code name, Operation Valkyrie was a famous internal plot to assassinate Hitler. There's even a Tom Cruise movie about this. Maybe we can finally take him down?
As if a new Wolfenstein game wasn't enough, we're also working on a live-action Amazon series based on the game. It is produced by Jonathan Nolan and Lisa Joy's Kilter Films, the same studio that produced the Fallout series.
