Which Nintendo character hasn't appeared in a Super Mario movie yet?

With the release of Super Mario Galaxy Movie, we're excited to see new and old faces on the silver screen when Super Mario Galaxy Movie opens in theaters around the world in April 2026. But we know a few of our favorite faces will still be missing.

But with it being almost certain that there will be another Mario movie at some point, we imagine Nintendo will be doing the plumbing to find characters before long, and we've got a few favorite Mario characters we'd like to see debut.

E. Guard

We're going to see the Luigi's Mansion movie.

Luigi's Mansion will always have a place in the hearts of Nintendo fans. The quirky old scientist who gave everyone's favorite Player 2 character his iconic vacuum backpack was none other than E. Gadd, the bespectacled old man who will shine on the big screen.

Introducing the best power-up in Mario video games!

Even if they don't make a full Luigi's Mansion movie, I have no doubt that there's a way to use the eccentric old scientist in the plot of a potential third Mario movie. No matter what the plot, Mario Bros. will definitely need a tool or two. Who can make it better?

Coupa Kids

Five more opportunities for comical antics

We're excited to finally see Bowser Jr. in the Super Mario Galaxy Movie, but Bowser still has the Koopa Kids, a clan of five little Koopas waiting for their moment in the spotlight.

These five colorful Koopas are all named after iconic rock musicians from the West's past, and if any of them are still alive and willing to make a cameo, this could be a really fun Easter egg for parents and grandparents bringing their young children to see a potential third Mario movie.

Todsworth

Princess Peach's iconic elderly advisor

Don't misunderstand. We know we've already seen a lot of Toads in the first Mario movie, and we're sure to see more of them in the second Mario movie. But if you ask us, there is one iconic toad that gets used a lot when Princess Peach is involved.

Toadsworth is Peach's trusted Toad advisor who arrives on Isle Delfino with her and Mario in Super Mario Sunshine, one of the most beloved Mario titles of all time. With such a fun role and design, there's no reason not to add him into the mix if Peach needs a little wise advice at some point.

toadette

best girl

But if we're talking about the most recognizable toad in the Mushroom Kingdom, Toadette may take the cake with her super cute design. That swinging pink headband and her bright and cheerful attitude would be a dream to see in a movie!

Toadette could realistically serve a variety of purposes in future Mario movies. She could be the one who gives La Mario parties to the stars, the one who provides a helping hand to some sort of council in the Mushroom Kingdom, and many other fun ways to bring her to the big screen.

bird

Let her show off her rocks in the spotlight!

Nintendo's Birdo looking at the camera in Mario Tennis.

We already know that Yoshi will have a major role in the second Super Mario movie. But if he needs a friend or sidekick other than everyone's favorite plumber, we already know who we'd nominate for that role. The always sassy and iconic hot pink Birdo.

Birdo's role in Nintendo canon has always been strange, but no matter how you use him in the plot, we're eager to see how the big red ribbon, giant ring, and iconic pose translate to the big screen.

daisy

Princess of Sarasaland, princess of our hearts

Daisy welcomes you to Daisy's Field Day at Super Mario Party Jamboree.

Daisy was introduced in Super Mario Land almost 40 years before this list was written. long When it comes to Mario games, they're ignored. She was introduced in side games (party and sports titles) as another humanoid character meant to balance creatures, and still exists today as she helps parents stop their children from fighting over who will be the princess.

But Daisy is an icon in her own right, a tomboy who can hold her own and strut her way, and we'd love to see her do that on the big screen one day. Moreover, she is to Luigi what Princess Peach is to Mario, so if Luigi needs someone to go on a double date with…

wario

Mario's other foils

The cover art for Wario World features Wario emerging from a pile of gold, gems, and other treasure.

Boisterous, noisy, cackling and round, almost every Mario fan knows a thing or two about Wario, the negative version of Mario who has long served as one of the other main antagonists of the Mario canon.

We've already had quite a few adventures with Bowser, the big bad in the original Super Mario movies, which is what he usually tends to do when Mario is concerned. But if you need a way to spice up the plot for a vicious change of pace, all we know is which characters they can call.

Waluigi

He has been neglected for a long time

You wouldn't put him in a mainline game. You wouldn't put him in Super Smash Bros. Can't we put it on the silver screen too? Nintendo is almost guaranteed to print money if they add Waluigi to anything. We're begging our favorite lanky guy to be given time to shine.
