What items should you buy first from the gift shop in Animal Crossing: New Horizons?

If you've been craving new ways to decorate your space in Animal Crossing: New Horizons, you'll no doubt be intrigued by the dozens of new pieces of furniture that come with the hotel resort added in the January 2026 version 3.0 update.

As you gradually help decorate Kapp'n's family resort on the island's docks, you'll earn hotel tickets that can be redeemed at the souvenir shop run by Grams in the lobby. She sells clothes, accessories and new furniture. But which of her new hotel-themed creations are worth redeeming your ticket for?

If you've ever ordered room service at a hotel or luxury resort before, you know that in addition to the food, it comes with extravagant and extravagant extras, including plates heaped with condiments, sauces, and cutlery. These flatware are available as cutlery items at Grams Gift Shop at the ACNH Resort Hotel, adding a touch of ambiance to any dining setting.

The Hotel Mug is the least expensive of all the items Grams sells in the gift shop, but it's a fun way to add a travel vibe to any piece of architecture. These cute and colorful little mugs can be placed in a coffee shop building, designed hotel room, restaurant or even a cozy library building to evoke a very cozy feeling.

Libraries have been one of the most popular architectural styles since the first Animal Crossing game back in the GameCube days, and Animal Crossing: New Horizons already has plenty of fun furniture to help you design the library of your dreams as a fun feature at home, for villagers on your island, or even in one of the specialty rooms at your resort hotel.

It can be a seamless addition to any birthday party scene, just like you can add it to an island-themed party on the beach or a dance party in a club you've created somewhere on the island. Who doesn't love giving their space a fun, bright, and colorful vibe?

Depending on when they grow up, they will recognize these iconic and adorable little cars that toddlers and children can sit inside and use their feet to jump around and simulate driving a car, steer with the plastic wheels inside and have a ball as if they own the road.

The same fun returns in the ACNH 3.0 update. This update brings Kiddie furniture to Grams' store as soon as you design a room with a Kiddie theme. Go back out and place them among the island's playground buildings to bring home that nostalgic feeling of the island. You can even customize the colors to speed things up even further!

There are tons of ways to decorate your island with plants and flowers in Animal Crossing: New Horizons (even before you consider the massive undertaking of trying to create every hybrid flower in the game for decoration purposes), but flower pots are a cool new item to increase your green space.

A variety of colors are available for both the vases and the flowers themselves, and the plants can be customized in several ways to suit any hotel room building where nature plays an important role. Although flowers cannot be changed individually in each vase, the options given to us are always a nice addition to a hotel room.

Hotel Aloha Cardigans

DLC always brings new clothing options, just as there were a few new items added to the wardrobe when Happy Home Paradise was released a few years after ACNH's debut. I've brought you to another island to help build all kinds of houses for the villagers who come across the coast.

However, the 3.0 update brings a few different patterns for clothing, with blue giving the resort hotel a wintery feel and orange giving it a more summery feel. You can wear it as a shirt or cardigan, but with the update coming during winter in the Northern Hemisphere, we love the new cozy options we get for our villagers.

It's not often you see people checking into a hotel without luggage, and an even more iconic option for travelers is the rolling suitcase, an item added to the furniture catalog with the ACNH 3.0 update. Talk to Grams, pull out a few hotel tickets, and get the perfect item for any type of room theme you want to build.

It comes in a variety of colors, and there's probably no theme Leilani can throw at it, given that there's no room to add one of the rolling suitcase items. The only thing that would be more fun would be if you could actually change clothes instead of just raising and lowering the handle. You can change clothes using a refrigerator, but you can't change clothes with an actual suitcase, Nintendo…?

If you play the Animal Crossing: New Horizons 3.0 update with a Nintendo Switch Online subscription, you'll get access to several additional features, including the ability to create additional islands on one console using Slumber Islands or play retro games from Switch's catalog of titles.
