About 3 months ago I had a Google Pixel 6. Google Pixel 10 Pro XL. I expected to see significant improvements going from the Pixel 6 to the $1200 Pixel 10 Pro XL. Unfortunately it wasn't delivered. My early days with the Pixel 10 Pro XL were rough, with a variety of annoying issues, including the phone experiencing general lag, newly released games not playing properly, and several apps suffering from lag so severe that they were practically unusable. As of now, the Pixel 10 Pro XL experience is well ahead of when I received the phone at launch, but it still falls short of expectations.
I still greatly regret buying the Google Pixel 10 Pro XL, but I'm happy to report that a more serious issue has been resolved. Most of the apps I frequently use now work flawlessly, and much of the input lag I initially experienced is gone. popular Destiny: Ascension NetEase's game, a game that was pleasantly unplayable on the Pixel 10 at launch, now works as advertised. If you compare how bad the Pixel 10 Pro XL performed initially, it's night and day. In fact, we've had little to no complaints about the Pixel 10 Pro XL in the few weeks we've been there. However, things have been going downhill since last month's update.
The Pixel 10 Pro XL's bigger problems are solved, but there's a new problem
Since downloading the October update, certain apps on my Google Pixel 10 Pro have been crashing quite frequently, with Gmail being the biggest issue. When I open an email thread containing multiple emails, the app freezes and eventually crashes. According to various forum posts online, I'm not the only Pixel 10 Pro XL user experiencing this issue. However, some other people online found workarounds and methods to solve the problem, but none of them worked for me. The simple act of checking email on the go has now become an unnecessarily frustrating experience. I wasn't able to reproduce the issue on my Pixel 6, so it appears to be a problem specific to the Pixel 10, specifically the Pixel 10 Pro and Pro XL. A report from Android Authority shows that this appears to be an issue across the Pixel 10. However, the wider issue appears to have since been resolved.
One of the biggest selling points of the latest Pixel phone range is AI integration. When you purchase the Pixel 10 Pro XL, you get one year of Google AI Pro for free. Otherwise, it's $19.99 per month, but I'm not sure it's worth the price.
