In some ways, 2025 has been a somewhat quiet year for video games. PlayStation's two biggest exclusives were sequels that were a step below the likes of The Last of Us and God of War in terms of public awareness. Xbox continued to stutter with a handful of games that felt better suited to the now-extinct land of Double-A experiences, leaving a rather large GTA 6 -sized hole in its release calendar.
Meanwhile, we had the biggest surprise of the year, with the Nintendo Switch 2 and the Year of the Animals coming for the first time with the new Donkey Kong, the release of the highly anticipated Silksong, and Clair Obscur: Expedition 33 being the most successful game in the history of The Game Awards.
But between all these twists and turns, there was nothing. Some games were leaked or revealed before the year started, and by the end we knew as much about them as we had going in. This is a highlight video for them. But if you're looking for updates, be careful what you wish for. Last year, Silksong made the list, and Tomb Raider also had two games released in December. However, the same was true for Wonder Woman, which was eventually canceled. Let's hope these games avoid that fate.

Typically you would use radio silence to qualify for this list. Not only are there no obvious things like trailers, screens, mechanical reveals, etc., but there are also no release dates, delays, or other complaints from the studio. Technically Blade doesn't qualify, as game director Dinga Bakaba gave us a small update on December 23rd, but an update nonetheless.
However, the update says “The team is working hard, we're very proud of everyone and we're doing our best. Please be patient. This will be a special game and we hope we can all meet the high standards we've set for ourselves and for you all.” It's sweet, but it doesn't tell us anything, so we're counting.
The Wolf Among Us 2
Last September, the writers of The Wolf Among Us 2, who went AdHoc with Dispatch's launch late last year, said they had no idea what was going on in the game. Aside from several leaks about an imminent release that turned out to be false, that's all we've heard about The Wolf Among Us 2 since October 2024.
80 most anticipated games of 2026
From standout masterpieces to lesser-known gems, here's the definitive list of all the games expected in 2026.
Dispatch poses a challenge for Telltale. On the one hand, its success proves that there is still a thirst for the Telltale formula. On the other hand, it feels like a sign that the Telltale magic has completely left the building.
motivational iron man game
Motive's untitled Iron Man game may have had a job listing posted over the summer, which could hint that the game will have a single-player level. That's all we know. It feels like the opportunity to strike while the iron is hot has passed, but perhaps his use in the MCU has elevated Iron Man to the level of a truly timeless hero.
With Black Panther and Captain America's 1943: Rise of Hydra games delayed to this year, the cinematic return of the Avengers, and the addition of Iron Man, 2026 could be the year that Marvel returns to its status of cultural dominance after a disappointing showing last year.
The Witcher Remake
Announced in 2022, CD Projekt Red has been pretty busy since then, tweaking Cyberpunk 2077, adding the Phantom Liberty expansion, moving forward with a sequel, and starting development on The Witcher 4. All have had some sort of update in 2025. However, all has been quiet on the Rivian front for the remake of the first game.
Most players suggest newcomers to the series start with 2 (or 3), so it's a good idea to brush up on the first game (ha! geddit?). However, we have no idea what state the game is in at the moment.
bioshock 4
Technically, Take-Two CEO Strauss Zelnick gave an update on the game, saying, “This game is coming soon. I can say this with all my heart, without a doubt.”
We probably won't hear about these 10 games for at least another year.
These announced games need a little more time to cook, but I'd still like to talk about them in the meantime.
I don't think that can reasonably be considered new information about a game that has been in development since 2019. Although various leaks have hinted at development chaos since then, this is at least a positive thing. Other than that, aside from some vague leaks suggesting that BioShock 4 will look like BioShocky, we're just as in the dark as we are with this movie. At least Ken Levine is basically making the same game in Judas.
Okami Sequel
As expected, when the long-awaited sequel to Okami was revealed at the end of The Game Awards 2024, we were warned that its release was years away and that updates would be few and far between. So it's been proven, but Okami remains firmly entrenched in the hearts of many gamers who grew up with Amaterasu.
It'll likely be on this list again next year, but if the sequel is as good as the original Okami, it might be worth the wait.
killer bean game
For some reason, this procedurally generated action roguelike, which was revealed at Summer Game Fest 2024, showed you playing as Killer Bean in a meme that was a bit dated even at the time. We haven't heard anything about the game since then, and that might be for the best.
