Prototypes are quite high in the list of games that we will like for remasters. What we give to play with Alex Mercer is superhero (or villain) Powers. This series has been dormant for a long time, and others around them have been remastered or reinstalled with modern faithful roads. But there have been some recent events, suggesting that remasters can be progressed.
In April, PlayTester, a member of the Activision Group test, insisted that a new prototype game featuring Mercer is in progress. This game must be “transformed into a form, switching to others.” Since then, it hasn't been heard so far.
Both prototypes have received amazing steam updates.
As discovered by pcgamer, prototype and prototype 2 received an amazing update of about 600MB. This update has no patch memo or communication at all. As expected, Dataminers entered these patches and identified exactly contained contents and suggested that the update is probably preparing a remaster.
As a result of these updates, two major changes were found. The first is a development test map that is not characterized by previous versions of games, and the second was several changes in the game credit. Many new names and studios have been added, including the Ubisoft Connect version.
To add to the remaster theory, the credits included the staff of the Activision Support Studios Behox and Demonware. But the biggest additions are the Iron Galaxy Studios who worked in numerous remasters such as Spyro Reignated Trilogy, Uncharted: Legacy of Thiefs Collection and Tony Hawk 'S Pro Skater: 3 + 4.
In February 2024, a new list of two prototypes was found on the Australian Classification Committee website. None of these can be considered as a confirmation, but it is only a matter of time until Sony announces the prototype remastering collection, and is probably the new game of the long dormant series.
