After the lukewarm response to Edge of Fate and the general dislike for Ash and Iron; Destiny 2 We needed the Renegade to be a hit. There were many moments like that. Destiny 2 It felt like a bit of a mess, and things would be dire if the upcoming expansion wasn't released, but this time was a little different. Players' feelings have been dampened for some time, they are not happy with the major changes made in Edge of Fate, many of which have been completely reverted, and the lack of communication has left the community concerned.
With all of this in mind, it's only natural that Bungie is putting a lot of love and care into their next installment. Destiny 2: betrayer. The Star Wars-inspired expansion pulled out all the stops when it came to production values and activities, but best of all, Bungie brought along a bunch of fun new toys in the form of the pyrotechnics. Nevertheless, nothing could hold a candle to the sword of practice. Destiny 2This is the lightsaber version.
The Praxic Blade may be Destiny 2's most powerful weapon.
When first announced Destiny 2When I heard about the Renegades expansion at Bungie headquarters, I knew Praxic Blade was going to be special. But it wasn't until the expansion officially released and players started crafting it that the lightsaber's power became truly evident. This is easily one of the following: Destiny 2's most powerful weapon and a lot of fun to use.
We have to assume Bungie paid a lot of attention to Praxic Blade to make sure it was viable and powerful. For example, this season's Relics feature several mods that make the Praxic Blade even more powerful, from the Argent Blade to the Sword Storm Combo. Not to mention, the new Equilibrium Dungeon has a couple of boss encounters that are perfectly set up for getting hit by some laser swords.
Bungie knew what they were doing with the Praxic Blade. Renegade needed powerful weapons to ensure it didn't disappoint. You can't have a Star Wars expansion that gives players a lightsaber and doesn't strangle the default weapon slot.
Praxic Blade was a success. It is the most used weapon. Destiny 2 From the new Lawless Frontier to the Arena Ops playlist, you can't participate in any activity without at least one fireteam member using it. As a Titan main I have to force myself not to use Praxic Blade. Because Praxic Blade is so powerful and most top-tier content requires a high-performance build.
Destiny 2's Lightsaber Causes Problems Bungie Needs to Solve
But here's where things get complicated. As I mentioned earlier, Praxic Blade is so good that I don't want to use anything else. Bungie has done its job, but now it faces its biggest challenge yet. how Destiny 2 Are you willing to move forward knowing that the Praxic Blade exists?
The obvious answer is that Bungie nerfed Praxic Blade in the next major update, Shadow and Order. Destiny 2. However, where weapon nerfs have been expected or welcomed in the past, this is a bit different for a few reasons.
-
Many players are back. Destiny 2 With Renegades, they will be disappointed to see their favorite weapon, their coolest weapon, rendered useless.
-
The community is on shakier footing than it has been in years, so it won't be easy for Bungie to make a nerf and not lose its audience.
-
You can't suddenly disable one of the most powerful weapons in science fiction.
One of the challenges of live service games is finding ways to challenge players using the tools available to them. If lightsabers are as powerful as they are now, future content will be built around the expectation that the Praxic Blade can make lightsabers trivial. Bosses are given more stomp mechanics, are farther away, or have a higher health pool. Other weapons must meet or exceed the power of the Praxic Blade, and power creep becomes an issue as older weapons get pushed aside.
Bungie has a solution to these problems, but it may lead to new problems. As of now, the primary weapon is practically useless in high-level content, and Bungie needs to fix that. They have fine lines all the way to the toes and don't have the same amount of wiggle room as there used to be.
I think the changes to Praxic Blade's ammo economy would be a good solution and would be Bungie's way of “nerfing” the weapon. Without the artifact mod, it's still powerful, but not quite as powerful, and less ammo means you can't keep your lightsaber off for the entire activity. Still, a nerf is a nerf, and there's a reason it's a “bad” word.
In the past I would have counted the days until the nerf, but now I'm not sure. Despite Renegade's success, Destiny 2 Now it's in a strange place and the smear is being observed under a microscope. Maybe lightsabers will stick around longer than we expect. For now, I'll just continue to enjoy Praxic Blade and let Bungie figure out how to fix this issue.
