21065 Sagrada Família is said to be part of the LEGO Architecture theme, according to newly emerged leaks and a separate Brick Tap report from January 2026. This classification is noteworthy, as the Architecture line has been widely known for its more compact, display-focused Landmark and Skyline models rather than the replicas that compete with LEGO's biggest collector releases to date. Still, this scale of the Sagrada Família build fits the line's emphasis on famous real-world structures, even if the reported dimensions suggest something much closer to the company's ultra-premium showcase sets than the typical architecture line releases.

The timing of LEGO's rumored Sagrada Família model is no coincidence

Rumor has it that the actual landmark on which the Lego set is based is Barcelona's Roman Catholic Cathedral, Catalan architect Antoni Gaudí's best-known work. Located in the city's grid-based Eixample district, Sagrada Família combines elements of Gothic Revivalism and Catalan Modernism. Construction began in 1882, and the following year Gaudí took over the project, transforming it into a highly iconic, nature-inspired design defined by towering towers, sculptural façades, and complex geometric forms.

More than 140 years later, the church remains unfinished but active. The cathedral is still under construction, with the main structure expected to be completed in 2026, with recent reports suggesting that the central Tower of Jesus Christ has reached its full exterior height, with interior and finishing work still remaining. So, according to rumors from LEGO, the set could be based on a relatively completed model of the cathedral, marking the end of nearly 150 years of construction.

Another giant Lego set will reportedly be released before Sagrada Familia in 21065.

21065 Sagrada Familia is expected to surpass the current largest LEGO set, 31203 World Map, by 365 pieces. It's also not the only large model the Danish toymaker is expected to debut this year. According to several previous reports, the yet-to-be-announced 11377 Minas Tirith will be one of the 10 biggest LEGO sets of all time when it releases on June 1st. It was expected to take sixth place, but the release of 21065 Sagrada Família will push it to seventh place among the company's biggest block-built models to date.
