Assassin’s Creed Mirage takes inspiration from the series’ old formula of prioritizing stealth over open confrontations. The game reflects this style in every single feature, be it murdering guards in broad daylight, striking from the above while keeping a low profile, or avoiding increasing Notoriety by causing a nuisance in the streets of Baghdad.
Notoriety measures illegal activities or transgressions that Basim carries out in Baghdad. There are multiple ways to increase Notoriety and three ways to expunge it completely. Here’s everything you need to know.
How Does Notoriety Increase In Assassin’s Creed Mirage?
Doing something unacceptable to the public is the only way to increase Notoriety in Assassin’s Creed Mirage. This includes killing guards in front of civilians of Baghdad, a failed attempt at pickpocketing, and harming random NPCs. Each action contributes towards a small or significant increase in Notoriety.
One of the easiest ways to do crime and not get any Notoriety is by not being seen. This can be achieved by throwing a smoke bomb or remaining in the shadows without being seen.
All Notoriety Levels And Effects
Each Notoriety level in Assassin’s Creed Mirage comes with new challenges. We have broken down the effects of each Notoriety level here.
If you’ve not hit the Notoriety level 1 mark completely, you can hide on the rooftop or inside houses, and the bar will deplete.
Level 1 Notoriety
While roaming the streets of Baghdad, the public occasionally notices Basim’s presence and calls out guards on him.
Very few wanted posters will appear randomly in nearby markets for you to tear them down and drop the Notoriety level.
Level 2 Notoriety
Once you’ve hit the Notoriety level 2 mark, Archers will appear on rooftops to spot Basim. On the ground, the guards will be on alert for Basim and order him to stop sporadically when you come across them.
Civilians will also be more abrupt in reporting Basim and calling out nearby guards to catch him. Finally, more wanted posters will appear on the walls for you to tear and drop Notoriety from level 2 to level 1.
Level 3 Notoriety
When you hit the Notoriety level 3 mark, a loud instrumental noise will play, indicating an emerging warning or special request to take down Basim. This is the peak wanted level Assassin’s Creed Mirage has, and it unleashes an elite guard called Shakiriyya to tail, track, and take down Basim.
Civilians will also rally around the wanted posters in a few numbers and babble about someone who looks like Basim.
How To Remove Notoriety In Assassin’s Creed Mirage
There are three methods to remove Notoriety in Assassin’s Creed Mirage:
- Tearing down the wanted posters
- Pay Munadi a Power Token to give you a clean slate
- Killing the Shakiriyya at Level 3 Notoriety
Tearing Down The Wanted Posters
One of the fastest methods to get rid of Notoriety levels in Assassin’s Creed Mirage is to tear down posters. Your navigation bar will tell you how far the next wanted poster is. Simply approach any poster and tear it down, eliminating one Notoriety level per poster.
Pay The Munadi A Power Token
Munadi is an interactable NPC mostly found near crowded places, making random announcements. You will not find him outside the bustling city centers of Baghdad or roaming outside the city walls. Regardless of your Notoriety level, paying Munadi one Power Token will clear Basim’s name.
Pickpocketing NPCs in The Bazaar location comes with a chance of acquiring random Khidmah Tokens, including the Power one.
How To Kill Shakiriyya
Shakiriyya is a relentless elite guard who will only appear as you hit Notoriety level 3. To beat Shakiriyya, you should learn all of his attacks. He is agile, hits hard, and has plenty of attacks. We have listed all of his attack patterns for you here:
Sword uppercut |
Shakiriyya runs around you and unleashes a sudden uppercut that can be parried |
---|---|
Two-hit sword swing |
The enemy will make a two-hit consecutive sword attack. You can parry any one of the two attacks as well. |
Kick Attack |
Shakiriyya lands an unblockable kick, dealing a knockback attack on Basim. |
Throwing Knife |
Followed by the kick, he immediately hurls a throwing knife. |
Stab Attack |
Shakiriyya suddenly lands a one-hit stab attack that you can parry. |
Parry |
If Basim attacks back to back, Shakiriyya will land a parry move. |
The easiest way to defeat Shakiriyya is to lock onto the target and not move. This way, you can conveniently focus on pressing the parry or dodge buttons.
If you damage Shakiriyya out of combat, such as throwing a torch or trap tool at him to deal damage, he will drink Elixir and replenish the lost health.
While throwing smoke bombs at enemies creates an opportunity for an easy kill, this does not work on Shakiriyya. Instead, he is only dazed for a few seconds that you can utilize and land quick slashes before he is back in action.
Using the Blowdart tool is ineffective against Shakiriyya as he wears armor and is not affected by the tool.
Most of Shakiriyya’s attacks can be parried, and you need to do it at least three to five times to deplete his stamina bar. Once it is done, he will be prone to a one-hit kill button prompt. Running around in circles against Shakiriyya will do you no good, as he will throw random attacks at you. It will be better to stay in one place, anticipate his attacks, and react accordingly.
Once you beat Shakiriyya, all the Notoriety levels fall back to square one, giving Basim a clean slate as if nothing happened in the first place. You will get random rewards by looting the corpse of Shakiriyya and will likely get a Power Token, tool ammunition, and Elixir.
