The Karate Kid is an integral part of '80s culture, shaping the childhoods of millions of Gen Xers. While the original film is hailed as a classic of its time, the sequel had less of a cultural impact and was only rediscovered by new fans after the release of the Cobra Kai TV show.

Karate Kid: Street Rumble Review – You're (Technically) the Best
The Karate Kid: Street Rumble doesn't feature knockout crane kicks, but it blows away previous games in the series.
Odaclick Game Studio's The Karate Kid: Street Rumble celebrates (almost) every film in the series and highlights overlooked aspects of Daniel LaRusso's epic. The game features characters from each film and includes both recognizable characters and deeper cuts.
johnny lawrence
Originally played by William Zabka.
This wouldn't be a Karate Kid game without the appearance of Daniel's childhood bully, Johnny Lawrence, who acts as the boss in the All Valley Tournament. Johnny was a top student at the Cobra Kai dojo, where he trained under Sensei John Kreese. Here, he was manipulated by Kreese due to his poor family situation, and accepted the flawed values he carried with him throughout his life, such as not showing mercy to others.
Johnny was victorious over Daniel (and the player) at the end of the first Karate Kid, and his loss left him distraught. Cobra Kai's first season shows Lawrence continuing to clash with the LaRusso family, but the two former rivals are eventually able to resolve their differences and team up to face a greater threat.
bobby and dutch
Originally played by Ron Thomas and Chad McQueen.
Bobby and Dutch are minor characters in the Karate Kid movie and appear as minibosses in the campaign (Bobby appears in Part 1 and Dutch in Part 3). Both were friends with Johnny and trained with him at Cobra Kai. Bobby was the second most talented student in the dojo, fought Daniel in the first Karate Kid, and was ordered by Kreese to injure his leg. Later, Bobby became a pastor and reevaluated many of the decisions he had made in his youth.
Unfortunately, the trajectory of Dutch's life was much different. He never escaped the bullying, and his problematic behavior continued into adulthood. In the second season of Cobra Kai, it is revealed that he is serving a significant sentence at Lompoc Federal Prison. However, his exact crime is not mentioned.
John Kreese
Originally performed by Martin Kove.
There is no bigger villain in the Karate Kid series than John Kreese, and he makes his presence known several times in the Street Rumble. He is a teacher at the original Cobra Kai dojo and became incredibly angry at Johnny after losing to Daniel at All Valley in 1984. In the film, he harasses Lawrence and attempts to strangle him before Mr. Miyagi intervenes. However, in Street Rumble this is replaced with a level where the player must go to the Cobra Kai dojo and fight him.

14 Best Beat Ups of All Time
Beat 'em ups are a lot of fun and there are tons of games to choose from. But this title stood out as the best.
Kreese returns in Part 3 and enlists the help of his wealthy friend Terry Silver to embarrass LaRusso and Miyagi. They are ultimately thwarted and Daniel wins All Valley once again, but the conflict is handled slightly differently in the game. There are boss battles where players must fight Kreese and Silver simultaneously to advance to the tournament.
The disgraced karate master returned once again in the Cobra Kai series, pretending to be a changed man willing to atone for his past sins. This was later revealed to be a lie, and Kreese stole control of his former dojo from Johnny, forcing him to team up with Daniel to stop his former sensei.
Sato Toguchi
Originally played by Danny Kamekona.
Sato is a pivotal character in the second Karate Kid entry. He and Miyagi were both in love with a woman named Yukie, but she became Sato's wife in an arranged marriage. Miyagi spoke out against arranged marriages, and Sato challenged him to a fight, but Miyagi left his hometown and fled to the United States.
The player fought Sato at the Street Rumble, but has yet to forgive Miyagi. After rescuing himself from the typhoon, he comes to his senses and realizes that Miyagi has always been his friend. At the end of Part 2, he helps Daniel defeat Chozen, who abandoned him in the storm.
Toguchi Chozen
Original work: Yuji Okumoto
Chozen is Sato's nephew and the antagonist of The Karate Kid Part 2. He torments Daniel throughout the plot due to his relationship with Miyagi, which he considers dishonorable due to Sato's influence. Their conflict ultimately results in a proposed fight to the death during the film's climax. This scene can be played during Street Rumble, where the player defeats Chozen at the Obon Festival.
Despite a rough start, Chozen later returns as Daniel's ally in Cobra Kai. He teaches Daniel additional Miyagido techniques that Mr. Miyagi was unable to teach until after his passing. Chozen later moves to the United States and becomes an instructor for Daniel and Johnny's students as they train to fight Cobra Kai.
terry silver
Originally played by Thomas Ian Griffith.
Terry Silver is a businessman and friend of John Kreese. He is introduced in Part 3, helping Kreese weaken Daniel so that he loses the upcoming tournament. He poses as Daniel's friend, teaching him Cobra Kai karate and steering him further away from Miyagi's teachings. These mind games are shown in Street Rumble, where players must play a phantom version of Terry Silver. Thankfully, Daniel is able to escape Silver's influence and return to Miyagi, where he later wins All Valley.

10 Arcade Beat Ups That Still Need a Return
Beat 'em ups aren't something you see very often these days, and there are definitely some classics that deserve a comeback.
Silver reappears in Cobra Kai, teaming up with Kreese once again in an attempt to destroy Daniel LaRusso. They worked together for a while, but were eventually betrayed by Kreese and exposed for cheating in a karate tournament. This causes him to lose the respect of his students and is arrested after his various crimes are revealed.
Mike Barnes
Originally played by Sean Kanan.
Mike Barnes is a talented karate competitor hired by Terry Silver to defeat Daniel LaRusso in The Karate Kid Part 3. He bullies and instigates Daniel to participate in All Valley, and even threatens Mr. Daniel. It also destroys Miyagi's new bonsai shop. Daniel eventually gives up and defeats him in the tournament. Players will join this fight after defeating Mike in the final level of Street Rumble.
Barnes has a small role in Cobra Kai's later seasons, helping Daniel and Johnny prepare for their final confrontation with Kreese. He was brought in to select fighters to advance to Sekai Taikai. This causes friction with Johnny, but they eventually agree on who should represent the dojo in the tournament.
