Season 5, especially the recently released Vol. 2 is now convinced that an alternate version of the final season, the “Snyder Cut” edition, exists and has started a Change.org petition to get it released.
The petition, which has recently become very popular, currently has over 300,000 confirmed signatures. An online petition titled “Unseen Footage. Stranger Things S5 Vol. 2” is calling on Netflix Canada, Netflix, and the Duffer brothers to release an uncut version of the show, which they believe was a late decision.

Our editors present their favorite movies before ranking them in our official top ten.
“This has been a 10 year long process and this is what we got,” the petition starter wrote. “They would have cut a lot of scenes from Volume 2 and the characters we love. I believe as fans we need to stand up and take the initiative to get footage and make decisions. We need to sign this petition and trending hashtags and make videos together to get Netflix and the Duffer Brothers to take notice of us.”
That said, unlike the infamous “Snyder Cut” that existed, Zack Snyder's original vision for Justice League was scaled back during the highly publicized post-production period, so it doesn't sound like Stranger Things exists.
That's because Randy Havens, who plays Mr. Clark on the show, dismissed the idea of a hidden cut on social media, clearly writing, “There is no Snyder Cut of this show.”
In other words, what you're seeing is something that Netflix and the Duffer brothers truly and wholeheartedly believe is the best path forward.
Season 5 left fans extremely angry.
Long before the latest batch of episodes was released, Season 5 was already establishing itself as one of the most divisive entries in the franchise. The final of the franchise's five seasons is the least reviewed by critics and the worst reviewed by fans, with a user score of 56%.
The negatives don't end there either, as things come to a head in the franchise's penultimate episode, “Chapter Seven: The Bridge.”
It's the lowest-rated episode of the series overall, and is certainly up there with the lowest-rated episodes of any show so far. It currently holds a 5.4/10 on IMdB with around 104,000 ratings. Out of 104K ratings, 40,000 people gave the episode a 1.0.
“It’s heartbreaking to see how far this once great show has fallen,” one one-star review read in part.
Fortunately or unfortunately, we won't have to wait long to see how things will end. The final film is scheduled to be released on December 31st in North and South America and on January 1st in Europe. Perhaps most notable is that it will be shown in theaters. This means you will have extreme reactions, good or bad.
