Steam will soon be receiving more “strong” Xbox exclusives, insider claims

Xbox is almost completely moving away from first-party exclusives, with flagships like Halo and Gears of War now available on PlayStation and Steam, and Fable is also coming soon. But what about Microsoft's older titles?

According to Windows Central editor Jez Corden, “Some powerful first-party Xbox experiences that aren't currently on Steam will appear in the coming months.”

Corden didn't reveal what these powerful “experiences” will be, but if we had to guess, we'd expect games that are already playable on PC but not on Steam, rather than new ports like Halo 5 and Fable 2.

To give you a rough idea of what we can expect, here are some of the titles that are not yet available for purchase on the Valve store:

  • fable 3

  • minecraft

  • Frey (2006)

  • Wolfenstein (2009)

  • Enemy Territory: Quake Wars

  • Call of Duty: Black Ops 4

  • Diablo 1-3

  • world of warcraft

  • StarCraft 1-2

  • Warcraft 1-3

  • crackdown 3

  • gears 4

  • Halo Wars 2

Some games, such as Wolfenstein (2009) and Prey (2006), were originally available on Steam before being delisted, but others, such as Crackdown 3 and Minecraft, were not available on the platform. For titles like Fable 3 to work on modern systems, they'll have to be released from the now-defunct Games for Windows Live, but that's easy money sitting on Microsoft's table.

Is Xbox Game Pass finally coming to Steam?

Xbox red death ring lights up green.

Some are convinced that Corden is actually teasing that Game Pass will finally come to Steam. Because he described these powerful games as 'experiences' rather than 'games' in themselves.

This is something players have been craving for years, especially with the advent of Steam Deck. Gabe Newell said he's “very excited” that Valve will be working with Microsoft to integrate subscriptions into its store in 2022.

It won't be the first service of its kind on the platform, as EA Play is available now. However, you may also see a slimmed-down version that only includes first-party Xbox games rather than an extensive library.

Anyway, we'll find out soon, as Corden teased that this will all start to unfold in the “coming months.”

Microsoft is currently a BDS target. That means there are many people boycotting all Xbox products, including games published by Xbox, until they are removed from the list.
