Star Wars is reportedly about to make a big game announcement soon.

It's that time of year again. We're just around the corner from The Game Awards, and despite the show's ongoing attempts to pretend it actually cares about its awards, everyone is trying to guess what big and exciting announcements will be there. This year, thanks to near-constant Half-Life 3 rumors and a large statue in the desert, things have gotten a little more heated, and it seems like just about anything could turn out to be an unexpected surprise this year.

However, there is one franchise that many people didn't think would be a potential candidate. It's Star Wars. We know there are a ton of Star Wars games currently in development. These games are all at very different stages of development, and one fairly reliable insider is now hinting that a “big” Star Wars game announcement may be coming soon.

This little tease comes from notable Twitter insider Kurakasis. He goes on to claim that the Star Wars announcement they're teasing has nothing to do with Star Wars: Zero Company or Star Wars Eclipse. In the big picture, these are two relatively small Star Wars games, so the real question is what exactly can they announce?

With two games already ruled out, a few suspects remain. The Star Wars: Knights of the Old Republic remake has been MIA for quite some time since it was first announced in 2021, and there have been various reports of development issues. It looks like it's still in development, and it'll be a pretty big announcement for The Game Awards.

Second, we know that Star Wars: Zero Company isn't the only Star Wars game Respawn is currently working on. Earlier this year, Respawn revealed that it was working on “the next chapter in the Star Wars Jedi series,” and although it's been a little over two years since Survivor, we've finally gotten an official teaser trailer as full confirmation that the game is coming.

Lastly, Skydance's big Star Wars title is currently in development, led by Uncharted director and writer Amy Hennig. With Skydance currently hard at work on Marvel 1943: Rise of Hydra, it's unlikely they'll be debuting another big project anytime soon.

Whatever this big Star Wars announcement is, there's a pretty good chance it will be announced at The Game Awards next week, considering the show is just over a week away. Who knows, maybe that big statue in the desert that everyone is raving about might have something to do with Star Wars? That's as good a guess as anyone else has right now.
