Several internet providers and services, including AT&T, T-Mobile, and Verizon, are experiencing severe service outages across the United States. Companies like Verizon have released statements about what's going on, but the outage also affects services offered by other companies.

This issue was first reported to Down Detector just before noon on Wednesday, January 14th. As of 12:41 PM ET, 175 users had reported issues with Verizon's mobile service, including 485 individual reports to FIOS, Verizon's home fiber internet service branch. On a similar scale, both AT&T and T-Mobile reported more than 1,800 outages nationwide. Affected users noticed that their phones' 4G and 5G signals were changed to SOS-only mode, preventing calls and texts from being sent normally.

As of this writing, the outage continues to affect US customers. Verizon released a statement on social media saying it was aware of the issue and that its engineering team was working to restore service as quickly as possible. T-Mobile said service is back to normal, but customers trying to call or text Verizon users may not be able to reach them. AT&T and Xfinity have not yet commented publicly on the issue.

This is a developing news story. This post will be updated as soon as all functionality is restored for all affected providers.
