Skill caps, LEM enhancements and true max levels

But all leveling up has to end somewhere, and identifying your level cap can be tricky because the game doesn't warn you about one important detail.

How leveling works in StarRupture

Leveling in StarRupture occurs the same way for all characters in the game. This means that there is no real difference (in the current version of the game) whether the player chooses to be a soldier or a biologist. What really matters is that players increase their proficiency in combat, survival, and movement, gaining experience in these three areas and unlocking LEM augmentation slots every few levels.

LEM reinforcement slot Unlocked by level: 10, 25 (20 for combat), 40 (35 in combat), 65, 85and 100. Each skill can be leveled up to 100, but there's a catch. The actual level cap is hidden and the only way to find out is to unlock one of the crafting stations in the game.

As of the writing of this guide, only 3 LEM augmentation slots are available per skill, down from the maximum of 6 per skill available when the developers fully release the game.

This is a little difficult to notice as it appears as a small message that only appears when the player uses the LEM station. Please note that some players are past level 45 in terms of experience points but cannot level up. So the problem is: There is currently no way to level up beyond that limit.

If players want to unlock their character's full potential, they will have to wait for more content to be unlocked in future patches of the game, and as previously mentioned, StarRupture is still in Early Access, so some features of the game are still locked. Still, with so much content available and a huge map to explore (in addition to tons of structures to build), players can sit back and enjoy the ride before the final version of the game is released.
