Life Is Strange: Reunion launched last week with very little fanfare, leaving fans of the series worried. However, initial impressions suggest there's nothing to worry about and that the latest game in the series is pretty good. That's because Reunion currently has the highest user scores since the original game.
I think people actually like reunions.
Life is Strange fans who spent the weekend with Max and Chloe have left reviews of Reunion on Metacritic. For those of you who were skeptical enough to wait for things to calm down to pick up a game that should fix the problems people are having with the LiS timeline, this is good news. score So far 8.2 out of 10 on Metacritic241 people left a review.
8.2 may not sound like a very high score, but that's the case for Life is Strange. Fans are incredibly difficult to please. As it stands, Reunion is the only game in the series to have a user score higher than 8.0 since the original Life is Strange. The first game sits at a high 8.6 and seems untouchable..
Fans didn't really like Life is Strange 2 or True Colors. Both follow-ups settled at 6.9. Deck Nine excites the LiS fanbase with double exposure. It has a user score of just 4.6 on Metacritic. Over 800 of you expressed your opinion through the platform.
Reunion's early user scores may be a sign that the series is back to its best.
So, all things considered, since it's still early days, an 8.2 score would potentially be a huge win for Reunion. Not only is double exposure a noticeable improvement, but it's also back in a form the series hasn't seen since the first game. This is something that anyone who has played so far can take note of. them It seems very likely that other Life is Strange fans will, too.
Reunion's Steam ratings experienced a similar start. Shortly after launch, it debuted on Steam to “very positive” reviews, a big improvement over the “mixed” double exposure it had to address, as did Metacritic. The biggest reason fans love Reunion and hate Double Exposure is because the new game appears to change the past and bring Max and Chloe back together, as promised.
If that's what you wanted from the latest Life is Strange game, you're in luck. This is also a positive sign that the series will continue on Deck Nine. The studio took over LiS development duties from Don't Nod a few years ago, and if user scores hold up, this will be Deck Nine's best-reviewed Life is Strange game by quite some distance.
