Resident Evil Requiem Has a Confusing OG Resi Easter Egg

Resident Evil Requiem has some surprising Easter eggs that suggest it's based on a video game. to The video game exists in the Resident Evil universe.

Despite Resident Evil Requiem being one of the darkest games in the series thanks to the way it approaches Grace and Leon's story, that doesn't mean Capcom has forgotten how fun it is. Not only can Leon tear up just about anything in his path to relieve stress, but Requiem also has a ton of Easter eggs.

From Tofu appearing in late-game missions to all the callbacks and moments similar to previous games in the series, Requiem is a treasure trove for fans of the series. Since the Resident Evil games somehow exist, it turns out that some characters from the universe may also be fans. within The world of Resident Evil.

There's an Easter egg in Resident Evil Requiem that's giving me a headache.

It's not that serious, but come on.

shojodie took to Twitter to share a really interesting Easter egg that you can find when you arrive in Raccoon City as Leon. Join Barry's scavenger hunt and open the locker to see a replica console containing several games that will look familiar to any Capcom fan.

These games include Mega Man 8, Street Fighter (especially Alpha 2), and, oddly enough, Resident Evil. It's a little blurry, but it's hard to blend in the iconic box art and bright red font. If you think about it too hard, this little Easter egg suggests that Resident Evil video games (as in the products) are the norm in the Resident Evil universe.

This means that someone in the Resi universe is aware of the events of Resident Evil 1 and, based on the appearance of the fake console and the timing of when Raccoon City was bombed, decided to make a game out of it at the exact moment those events occurred. Considering that this is a world where zombies exist and appear frequently, it's hard to imagine that a video game based on a disaster would be a huge hit…

It's mostly a joke, since it's a nice nod to Resi's past, but it's fun to think about.

Grace from Resident Evil Requiem at the Spencer Mansion.

Resident Evil Requiem convinced me that a Resident Evil 1 remake would work if it were in first person.

Requiem is the closest Capcom has come to capturing the paranoia of the original Resident Evil games.
