Gamers are reporting difficulties using PlayStation online services due to PlayStation Network outages. PlayStation has acknowledged the problem with PSN and is working on a fix.
The PlayStation Network is the backbone of online gaming for console players, so when the network goes down, online games are often inaccessible. This may also affect other PlayStation services, such as viewing trophies or account data.
PlayStation Network shuts down on October 14, 2025
Starting around 7 PM PT on the evening of October 14th, numerous reports began to surface of players having trouble accessing the game or booting it offline. The problem doesn't seem to be completely universal, as some players have had luck resetting their console or waiting a while and trying again. DownDetector also reports that player complaints about the outage have decreased in the hours since the initial report, but some are still reporting issues now. The PlayStation website indicates that there is an issue with the system and that all gaming and social activities, including challenges, help, game streaming, tournaments, and trophies, may be affected. PlayStation Video and the Store appear to be unaffected at this time.
Unfortunately, when this happens, there's nothing players can do but wait. Booting an offline game is one possible option, but others boot up another console or PC to troubleshoot gaming issues in the meantime. With any luck, Sony will track down the issue and get players back online without having to wait any longer.
