In case you missed it, to celebrate PlayStation's 30th anniversary, Sony is releasing a limited edition console and accessories called the “PlayStation 30th Anniversary Collection.”
In true anniversary fashion, everything is PS1-themed, with the most notable offering being the PlayStation 5 Pro bundle, which includes a ton of goodies including the DualSense Edge and some collectibles, as well as the PS5 Slim Digital Edition, which has fewer goodies but still carries the same PS1 branding.
Nonetheless, after Sony’s announcement, many began speculating about how much these bundles and accessories would cost, with many expecting them to be incredibly expensive. But according to reliable industry sources, at least the PS5 Slim and the limited edition DualSense will be cheaper than expected.
Your wallet will still cry, but not as much.
As first spotted by ResetEra, insider Billbil-kun, who has leaked numerous things in the past, the PS5 Slim Digital Edition PS1 bundle will retail for gamers at $499.99, which equates to a projected price of €519.99, or £449.99.
For reference, the regular PS5 Slim Digital is available for $449.99 from PlayStation Direct. This particular bundle includes not only the PS1-themed console, but also a range of other items, from a PS1-themed disc drive cover, a PS5 stand, a limited-edition controller, and themed cable ties to a PlayStation poster, making it a great value.
The limited edition controller alone will cost $79.99, or the same price in your local currency. Sony recently introduced a $5 price increase to its existing DualSense controller lineup, and this new, sleek DualSense will likely fall into that same price bracket without any additional increase.
Of course, what fans really want to know is how much the PS5 Pro bundle will cost, especially considering that only 12,300 units will be available. Or that it includes a ton of items that add up to a hefty price tag on their own.
Still, if this price is realized, it could be a sign that the bundle won’t get much more expensive. But stranger things have happened in the world of pricing.
