Pokemon TCG Pocket is expanding its deals to include rare cards.

Pokemon TCG Pocket is approaching its one-year anniversary, and to celebrate, the game's development team has announced changes to some of the game's key mechanics. The most notable deal is the confirmation that players will soon be able to trade cards that are rarer than those they currently qualify for.

Despite having the word trading in the game's name, Pocket's trading mechanics were not added until several months after the app's release. The backlash then necessitated adjustments, and now we're in a position that Pocket players are happy with. Potentially it will get better.

You'll soon be able to trade rarer cards in Pokemon TCG Pocket, but it will cost you a lot.

Until now, players could only trade cards up to 4 Diamond or 1 Star rarity. When the new update is released, you will also be able to trade cards of 2 star rarity, 1 shiny rarity, and 2 shiny rarity cards. The only downside is that Shinedust's cost for that transaction rises rapidly.

Shinedust costs for all three new rarities being added to the potential trading pool have not been disclosed. However, the video explaining all the changes features a 2-star Pikachu with a transaction cost of 25,000 Light Dust attached. It's best to open the Deluxe X Pack and stock up on Shinedust until the new update is released.

You can also trade in cards from the latest booster packs, so you no longer have to wait to fill any gaps.

Trading changes will be added to the game along with brand new sharing features. By sharing on Pocket, you can give your friends cards of up to 4 diamond rarity. You can send one card to each friend each day, and they can choose one of the cards they receive each day.

Finally, there are some welcome changes to the way Amazing Choices work. Best of all, cards from the latest booster packs will appear more frequently in Wonder Pick options following the update, which does not yet have a release date. As well as an identifier that tells you whether or not you have a card, there are also numbers that tell you how many of each card you already have.

This all sounds like a welcome change to me, and a much-needed win for the Pokemon TCG Pocket community after the chaos caused by Deluxe Pack: Ex-boosters. This pack sounded like a great idea to give trainers a chance to catch up on the first year cards. But in reality, it's all very confusing and has left a gap in our collection that many of us thought the former booster would fill.
