Similar to Brock, Clemont's experience as a gym leader allows him to be a great source of knowledge for his peers, but he can also be a fierce opponent, as seen in his gym battle with Ash's friend.

With a bright and friendly personality, Drasna is a member of the Kalos Elite Four, which specializes in dragon-type Pokémon. Growing up hearing stories of Palkia and Dialga created a great love for the dragon type in Drasna's heart, and she has remained faithful to the type ever since. Before the events of the Kalos arc, Alain served as Professor Sycamore's assistant, with Charmander as his only Pokémon. When Charmander evolved into Charmeleon, Alain became friendly with Professor Sycamore's friend Lysandre, a mysterious philanthropist with a penchant for Fire-type Pokémon. Lysandre believed he could use Alain to further his plans, and tricked the young man into working as a member of Lysandre Labs, asking him to study Mega Evolution. Believing that this role would ultimately benefit the Professor, Alain accepted and received the Mega Ring and Charizardite X.
Alain develops into a somewhat callous trainer over the course of his journey, even after his friend Mairin's beloved Chespin “Chespie” falls into a coma. In fact, his ambition to study all known Mega Evolutions and the sheer power of the abilities themselves was fueled by his desire to save Chespie, and he felt responsible for Chespie's illness. Alain was horrified to discover Lysandre's true intentions behind his research and how he had used other trainers as pawns for his own plans. After teaming up with other heroes to defeat Team Flare, Alain accepts Professor Sycamore's offer to work at the Pokémon Lab again. Alain has since become less distant from others, trained even more amazing Pokémon, and even entered the Masters Eight tournament with his friend Ash.
