PlayStation Plus now has a section for Astro Bot cameos.

Key Takeaways

  • PlayStation has added an Astro Bot Cameos section to PS Plus.

  • This section contains references to all of Astro Bot's games available on PS Plus.

  • We hope to see this section grow as new Bots are added through Astro's speedrun levels and beyond.

Not only is Astro Bot a fantastic platformer, it's a game that celebrates PlayStation history with a growing roster of Bots in games that many people haven't thought of in years or have never even heard of. If Astro Bot Bot has reminded you of an old game or you've met a character from a game you'd like to go back and play for the first time, PlayStation Plus now has a section dedicated to games represented by Astro to Bots. Bot.

Spotted by IGN's Kevin Diaz, the aptly named Astro Bot Cameos section lists games represented by Bots, in order, with characters with unique levels listed first. There are some slight spoilers ahead for Astro Bot's PlayStation mascot-themed levels, but the order of the games in the Astro Bot Cameos PS Store section shows the Ape Escape level first, followed by God Of War, Uncharted, and more.

Even though it was set as default, when I checked the section myself, the game order was completely different. As with other sections of PS Plus, games can be ordered by release date or platform of your choice.

The section will now be live on PS5 and its tab can be found at the bottom of the screen in the PS Plus section. It's strange that the PS Store doesn't have the game, allowing people without Plus to purchase it, but it's appreciated that this method allows subscribers to explore PlayStation's history at no extra cost. Older games locked behind PS Plus Premium, the highest tier of the subscription service, especially if they were released on platforms older than PS4.

The point of Astro is to celebrate the history of PlayStation. So congratulate yourself.

Despite rolling up the credits for the game, a quick look at the titles included in the Cameos collection revealed some bots we haven't yet found. For example, I don't remember rescuing Returnal's Selene Bot yet. Although I was pretty sure she would be there. I also didn't realize that some of Astro Bot's golf-related items were references to Everybody's Golf, available on PS Plus Extra.

PlayStation appears to be sticking with the games currently available to play through PS Plus, including games like God Of War Ragnarok that are missing from the Astro Bot Cameos collection. Helldivers 2 and Rise Of The Ronin are also not included. However, these two games were only added to the game last week. Days Gone is also in there and I'm sure John Garvin will be very pleased.

I wish Astro Bot Speedrun updates would continue forever.

New levels every week are the perfect way to stay engaged in this platforming masterpiece.
