Why did Chopper secretly wake Hitohitonomi?
One Piece's Elbaf arc strongly indicates that Chopper can use his Devil Fruit awakening ability. As we already know from the story, Chopper ate Hitohitonomi a long time ago when he was a reindeer calf and eventually joined the Straw Hat Pirates. Chopper's Devil Fruit usage was quite unique in that he was able to ingest certain drugs called Rumble Balls and push the Devil Fruit beyond all its limits.
By consuming three Rumble Balls before the timeskip, Chopper was able to access the power of Monster Point, which gave him a monstrous form powerful enough to one-shot CP9. After the timeskip, Chopper gains conscious control over the power of the Monster Point and can trigger it with just a single Rumble Ball. In the Wano Country arc, Chopper succeeds in extending the duration of his monster points, and in Elbaf, it is clear that Chopper may also be able to utilize the power of the Devil Fruit to counter Imu's Domi Reversi.
