More details about the different endings in PSA: Escape from Tarkov are discussed in this article.
Escape from Tarkov has maintained a fairly steady popularity throughout its Early Access status, but it's definitely gotten a significant boost to the “mainstream” level now that it's reached 1.0 status on Steam and has an ending that involves escaping Tarkov.
Speaking of endings, as Insider Gaming first discovered, one of Tarkov's four endings has a downright brutal finish if A) you barely made it to the end and B) your entire group is together.
Because if you meet these two parameters, Tarkov will tell you that not everyone can experience the ending. Specifically, after fighting your way through the terminal, your entire squad learns that only three people can fit on the Zubr boat.
The Zubr boat cannot carry everyone. Evacuation will not begin until three people remain on the dock.
In other words, the two people must be executed, which is not an easy choice given that they are actual colleagues.
When did we decide that extraction snipers were new?
Marathon, Helldivers 2, Arc Raiders, Mycopunk and the canceled Titanfall rip-off shooter. Is there room for it all?
“It's glorious and glaringly obvious. Tarkov is unlike all games that only provide constant dopamine hits,” one defender wrote in part in the comments. “Suddenly suggesting a moral choice at the end is cynical and absolutely (Nikita Buyanov)-like.”
The ending is very reminiscent of Mafia 2, where you as the player assume Joe was part of the deal, but are ultimately told that wasn't the case. It's cruel yet very realistic.
In the end, it's just one of four potential endings in this cruel world, the others aren't quite as drastic, but are just as cool in their own way.
Tarkov having multiple endings is really neat, and I hope other extraction shooters follow suit.
As my colleague Josh Coulson noted in his report on the first person to actually escape Tarkov, there are actually four endings you could face.
Imagine that the person who achieved it first got the second worst ending.
According to Insider Gaming, of the four endings that exist, Debtor and Fallen are considered the most difficult to achieve. Survivor is a mediocre ending, and the best ending, Savior, is also the most difficult to achieve. It also includes a few story elements that I think are worth finding out, but I won't spoil what exactly the ending is because it's still so new.
