Marvel Cosmic Invasion will actually be released in 2026

Tribute Games has promised to release Marvel Cosmic Invasion before the end of 2025, and if all goes according to plan, they'll make good on that promise when the retro superhero launches on December 1st. A physical release is also scheduled, so we'll have to wait a little longer.

The fact that there is an actual release will come as a welcome surprise to those who are interested in that sort of thing. I'm one of those people, and considering the retro nature of Cosmic Invasion, I don't think I can assume I'm the only one who would prefer a physical copy of the game if given the option.

What's included in the Deluxe Edition of Cosmic Invasion?

But the best part of the extras you get with the more expensive version of Cosmic Invasion than the actual release is the art cards. There are a total of 15 of them, one for each playable character in the game.

We can't confirm if this is why the Switch 2 version of Cosmic Invasion's physical release is more expensive, but Tribute and Dotemu have confirmed that the full game will be in the cards. Game Key Cards, which are just blank cards that trigger a download when first inserted into the Switch 2, have been the subject of controversy since the Switch 2's launch. Third-party developers chose game key cards because they are much cheaper than regular cards. So Cosmic Invasion puts the entire game on the right card, which explains the slightly higher Switch 2 price.
