It looks like Jujutsu Kaisen may finally be getting a good game, as CyberConnect2's CEO has not-so-subtly teased some sort of announcement related to the series.
Anime games have been on a hot streak over the past few years, as evidenced by Dragon Ball: Sparking Zero, Demon Slayer: The Hinokami Chronicles 2, and Inazuma Eleven: Victory Road. That said, there are a few animes that aren't so lucky when it comes to adaptation.
Jujutsu Kaisen is one of those anime that unfortunately doesn't have a good game. The only big-budget release in the series so far is Cursed Clash, which is widely seen as a massive disappointment unbecoming of a beloved series. But Jujustu Kaisen's fate may soon change, as one of the best anime game developers seems to be teasing something soon.
CyberConnect2's boss sounds like he's teasing a Jujutsu Kaisen game.
“Everyone, please watch the Jujutsu animation.”
A few days ago, 4Gamer.net shared its annual collection of year-end interviews (translated by Gematsu) with Japanese developers, including Hiroshi Matsuyama, CEO of CyberConnect2. After highlighting that the studio will celebrate its 30th anniversary in 2026, Matsuyama revealed that CC2 plans to announce a new game in February.
Dragon Ball Z: Kakarot's Daima DLC Part 1 is good, but it's better to wait for the full content
Kakarot's Daima expansion is one of the most unique and interesting expansions, but it's disappointing because it's so short.
Shortly after teasing the new game, Matsuyama took a moment to highlight Jujutsu Kaisen: The Culling Game Part 1, which will air in a few days on January 8th. Matsuyama said that he would be watching the anime, while slipping a note that CyberConnect2 has nothing to do with the series.
I'll be watching too. what? Us? We have nothing to do with it. I'm just watching. That's it. So, if it were January 9th, I would have something to announce. However, there is nothing I can tell you as of today, so please watch the Jujutsu animation. – Hiroshi Matsuyama
Randomly mentioning Jujutsu Kaisen is already quite suspicious. However, Matsuyama hinted further by saying that CC2 may announce something after its anime debut on January 9th. There's nothing he can announce at the moment, but it looks like the studio could have something Jujutsu Kaisen-related in the works.
