Long before UniVersus became UniVersus, it was the Universal Fighting System. Encompassing all sorts of properties, the trading card game was originally a game that celebrated and was inspired by fighting games, where you played as a single character using attacks and blocks to deal damage.
UniVersus has been focusing more on anime, comics, and even Critical Role lately, but in its latest it goes back to its fighting roots. Tekken 8 is one of the best games of the year, and now it's out on UniVersus with two Clash decks based on mother and son Jun and Jin Kazama. Check out some of the cards you'll be able to play when both decks release on October 24th.
Jin Clash Deck
Much like Jin's long combos in the game, his deck involves gathering a huge pool of cards to boost the power of his attacks. Cards like Black Out and Breaking Step boost your attacks based on your card pool, while others like Over The shoulder Reverse can instead use a huge pool to slow down your opponent.
Of course, a deck centered around a card pool also needs a way to organize the card pool. Using methods like Jin's Karate Training will allow you to gain additional cards.
An interesting alternative strategy for this deck is to power up a single attack to deal massive damage. There are plenty of cards that boost your attack if you already have increased attack this turn, like Switch Blade, or cards that should already deal damage, like Ki-Charged Strike. You still need a large card pool to fully utilize these features, but now you have to do the job in one attack rather than long chains.

June Clash Deck
Jun's Clash deck plays an important role in UniVersus. Because it gives the Order and Good symbols some much-needed punch and kick tools that have been lacking for some time. Between cards like Ayame, Izumo, and Tsukuyomi for the attacks themselves, and buffs like Kazama's style of traditional martial arts and the power of A Kazama, these symbols have plenty of new tools to enjoy.
In UniVersus, decks are built around characters and cards can be used as long as they share at least one symbol. So Jun's deck has cards that can be used in Water, Order, and Good decks, while Jin's deck has cards that can be used in Chaos, Good, and Evil.
Some cards act as foils for Jin, punishing his opponents for having a large card pool. Let's take Ayame as an example, where the effect of drawing a card is relatively minor if the opponent has a card in the pool. It's not much, but it's all about the card benefits.
Meanwhile, Tsukuyomi helps force through massive attacks that you've spent a lot of resources on buffing by switching to throws, especially if your opponent has a face-down card in the pool. The throw deals half damage even if it is blocked. So if you boost it big enough, you can give your opponent some decent shells that they can't do much about.
