Light had faith. The light was innocent

One of the earliest examples was when L was dispatched to the FBI to investigate suspects in the Kira case, and Detective Raye Penber was assigned to investigate the Yagami family, particularly Light himself. Raye spent time following Light, but as soon as Raye concluded that Light was innocent, Light took action.
Without really needing to, Light devised a brilliant ruse involving staged busjacking to force Raye's hand. Light did what he wanted by taking Raye's name and controlling him in the next sequence, but it also made Light stand out much more. This made Light a target in Naomi Misora's eyes, and busjacking was too convenient in her eyes.

Wright had already set up a subtle trap on the bedroom door to see if anyone had been there and even to determine whether the intruder was a competent detective or not. Since the evidence pointed to an experienced police intrusion, Wright immediately assumed, correctly, that the room was being watched. Only through Ryuk's help did Light secretly kill the criminal and locate the camera so that L could see it in a certain way.
After Misa's raid, Light transformed himself.
Light spent several weeks in captivity with Misa.
Light's biggest near-capture came when his love-struck colleague Misa Amane was arrested on suspicion of being the second Kira. Light was shocked and dismayed, and L swiped Misa's phone, disconnecting her from Light, and then informed Light of Misa's arrest. Immediately thereafter, Rem pressured Light to save Misa at any cost, and Light decided to evade captivity by actually becoming a prisoner.
Wright devised his most ingenious plan. death noteI made all kinds of preparations before handing myself over to L's investigation team. Light's actions caused him to be seen as a guilt-ridden civilian rather than Kira himself, and his incarceration began. For a time, L was convinced that Light and Misa were guilty, but it was only when Light's plan was put into action to “prove” his innocence that Higuchi Kyosuke began his own Kira rampage.
L figured out how the Death Note works.
Especially the potato chip trick from L Pieced Together Light.
After Higuchi's arrest and untimely death, Light had Misa begin her role as Kira again to attract L's attention. Matsuda volunteered his name as the new L's identity, and fortunately, Light and Matsuda were safe by fooling Mello like this.
Aizawa began investigating light after the New York City catastrophe.
Mass almost became Wright's biggest liability.
Light was already committed to fighting Mello and Near, but things got much worse when Aizawa effectively betrayed him. Light failed to corner and kill Near's SPK team in New York City, leaving Light extremely vulnerable. It became increasingly clear that Light Yagami, L, and Kira were all the same person, and Near and Aizawa each figured out a specific piece of this puzzle. Near had his strong doubts and theories, and Aizawa continued to pile on them.
Light was disappointed, but to his surprise, Aizawa expressed his intention to investigate Light again, and Mogi was willing to help him. In fact, if Light hadn't acted quickly, Aizawa and Mogi would have been arrested the next time they investigated Mass. Just in time, Light ordered Misa to give up ownership of the laptop and all evidence of Kira's career. This meant that Aizawa and Mogi reached a hopeless dead end when the memory-poor Misa greeted them at the front door.
