How to Defeat Biolizard in Sonic

Sonic Shadow faces several opponents from his past. As he continues his journey through White Space to defeat Black Doom, you'll face off against several enemies from Sonic and Shadow's past. The first enemy to return is the Biolizard, a prototype that preceded Shadow in Gerald Robotnik's attempt to create the Ultimate Lifeform.

Biolizards, as their name suggests, are giant genetically engineered lizards fueled by unstable energy sources. Unlike its first appearance, Biolizard Sonic True to its name, the Ultimate Lifeform Prototype is a much more powerful enemy. In this guide, we will discuss combat strategy and talk about Biolizard's fighting style. The bottom section explains hard mode and how it changes combat.

How to Defeat Biolizard in Sonic

Sonic

Biolizard begins this fight by reusing the fighting style from Sonic Adventure 2. It advances towards Shadow by repeatedly biting, then switches to attempting to sweep Shadow away with its tail. If you need to get far enough ahead, you can avoid this problem by using fast boost bursts to move away from the incoming byte/sweep.

Sonic

After repeating this pattern a few times, the biolizard begins charging and firing energy balls that rise forward along the ground. When the Biolizard moves its mouth back in preparation for an attack, you can time your jump to launch the sphere into the air and use a double jump to leap over the sphere. Rinse and repeat until the biolizard exerts too much force and its head falls to the ground, then homing attacks onto the rail and climbing onto it to attack its weak point. Hit the homing attack button to hit weak points until you've taken enough damage to enter phase 2.

When about a quarter of its health is depleted, the biolizard grows wings/tentacles and enters stage two. Its main attack during this phase is to target a point on the ground and then, after a moment, plunge one of its wings into that point. Creates a shock wave. Jump over this shockwave to launch a guided attack with the tentacle wings, then mash the button to continue attacking until it explodes.

Once the wings explode, use a homing attack on the floating bubble that appears to rise up to the biolizard's weak point, then attack again. Once it does this, it will start performing more shockwave slams in succession before it gets a chance to attack its wings. Rinse and repeat this strategy to continue draining until you're down to half your health.

You can use Chaos Control to freeze the Biolizard in place and give it more time to attack its tentacles, so make the most of it when you see an opening. (However, make sure you are in a position where the tentacle can attack first.)

Sonic

When the Biolizard reaches half health or slightly below, it will begin a jump attack, throwing itself into the air before landing, creating three shockwaves. Jump over the shockwave while staying close to one of the targeted landing zones. If you have Chaos Control ready, you should use it to lock the tentacles in place and attack. Otherwise, you'll have to patiently keep attacking each tentacle whenever possible until it stays in place long enough to explode.

Sonic

Stay like this until the Biolizard's health drops to about a quarter, and he'll jump onto one of the walls as stage three begins. During this phase, Biolizard fires guided projectiles at Shadow. Use Doom Spears to shoot them down. Hold down the button and fire each time you lock. The Biolizard is brutal and will try to overwhelm you with a barrage of fire, so press the button again after firing so you can quickly lock in the next salvo.

Sonic

After doing this for a while, the Biolizard charges up and fires a giant orb of energy. You can freeze it using Chaos Control and then hit it repeatedly using homing attacks to counterattack. Afterwards, attack the bubble with a homing attack to reach the Biolizard's weak point again, inflict some damage, and successfully perform the quick-time event to win the battle.

How to Defeat Biolizard (Hard) in Sonic

Sonic

Biolizard has one of the simpler hard mode changes, but it doesn't make fighting easier by any means. Biolizards fight the same way as normal combat, but there are no rings that can be used anywhere during the fight. This means Shadow dies in just one hit, so you'll have to be extra careful and pay close attention to your attacks if you want to win. Luckily, the fight has checkpoints when you grow wings when you're at 3/4 health and cling to a wall when you're at 1/4 health, so dying doesn't mean you have to repeat the entire fight.
