Gathering Leaks Monster Hunter Collaboration

Magic: The Gathering Fans noticed a press release from Capcom that went live early on, revealing the upcoming collaboration between the two. MTG and Monster Hunter. 2025 was the year of crossovers. A user known as Copernicus1981 on Reddit shared a link to Capcom's press release highlighting: MTG Collaboration with Secret Lair Monster HunterHere's a list of the cards included in each of the four drops, along with the crossover release dates. It appears that one of the cards from The Monsters 2 Secret Lair drop is from the first The Monsters drop, but it's unclear which card it is. This means that The Monsters 2 contains four cards instead of five.

Although the press release itself is no longer available, fans have captured a few screenshots and helped us recreate the card list for each drop. According to a leaked press release, the goal for the first three drops is to represent each color at least once, and this is especially evident in the first two drops. each MTG Secret Lair drops are affordable by Secret Lair standards, at $30 for the basic version and $40 for the foil version.

However, due to the leaked content, the online reaction so far has not been very positive. This is for two reasons. The first is that there are several mechanically unique cards in the recent Secret Lair drop. MTGJin Sakai, Ghost of Tsushima is arguably a great and interesting esper commander. Instead, the Monster Hunter collaboration only includes reprints. The second reason is that most reprints are very cheap and underutilized. That means that in most cases the effective and perceived value of a reprint is much lower than $30 or $40.
