Fans have been clamoring for new information about the Marvel fighters since the initial eight characters were revealed early and some closed beta testing took place throughout 2025. In fact, the new details arrived sooner than Sony and Arc System Works intended. Following the announcement of the new PlayStation State of Play on February 12th Marvel Token: Battle of the Soul The Steam page has also received a subtle update, giving fans new details that haven't yet been revealed. We've seen a launch roster of 20 heroes, a 64-player online lobby, a PSN account requirement for PC users, as well as a single-player mode that will allow players to take a deep dive into the game's various teams. With the newly released trailer, the “team” dynamic is now starting to take shape.

February 12, 2026 on Sony's PlayStation State of Play Marvel Token: Battle of the Soul A two-minute trailer has been released containing a ton of new information. Starting things off on the Shi'ar homeworld of Chandilar, players saw what appeared to be the bodies of Deathbird and Gladiator before the planet essentially evaporated. As it moved towards Earth, purple storm clouds appeared and covered the sky, giving fans their first glimpse into the game's overarching story.
From there, the trailer revealed the first complete team of characters, all part of Unbreakable X-Men. Although players have seen Storm before. Marvel Token: Battle of the Soul In the trailer, she's joined by Wolverine, Magik, and Danger. Although the first three have appeared in many other games and media, Danger is a physical representation of the X-Mansion's Danger Room, where Xavier's mutants train. The character first appeared in 2005's Astonishing X-Men (Vol. 3), and the room itself seems to have come to life thanks to Shi'ar technology. The trailer highlighted many of the characters' impressive super and ultimate attacks, including a huge, stylish team-up incorporating all four characters.
An accompanying blog post revealed more details about the previously announced Episode Mode. This is a collaboration between ArcSys and Marvel Games to tell the game's story using a mix of American and Japanese comics. Drawn by renowned artists, the motion comics will detail a narrative teased to have been written by “the renowned writer of the original Marvel Comics.”

The reveal also confirmed pre-order bonuses and special editions that players will be able to pre-order starting February 19th, with the game officially launching on August 6th. Anyone who pre-orders the game will unlock lobby decorations for their avatar, including the Infinity Gauntlet, the Baby Groot lobby pet, and a rideable Cosmic Surfboard.
For those who want a bit more from the game, there is also a Digital Deluxe Edition and Ultimate Edition. Digital Deluxe costs $84.99 and gives players the full Year 1 Pass, which adds four characters and one stage after launch. Players can also dress up their avatar as Howard the Duck and unlock the Cosmo lobby pet.
Finally, the Ultimate Edition brings everything previously announced plus more cosmetic gear. For $99.99, players will also receive five bonus character costumes, including Insomniac's Spider-Man's Advanced Suit 2.0. Marvel's Spider-Man 2 game. Players can also unlock Storm's punk rock costume, Iron Man and Captain America's classic costumes, and Doctor Doom's Supreme Ruler costume. Lastly, all 20 released characters have an animated color option available.
