This week's Game Awards brought out a number of exciting gaming reveals about the titles that will shape the gaming releases of the next few years. But the good news is that one of the titles that many thought wouldn't be released until 2030 is coming sooner than that.
Star Wars: Fate of the Old Republic It was one of the biggest titles revealed at The Game Awards 2025. Its existence was a well-kept secret about the Geoff Keighley-produced show, and it wasn't until the title card was fully featured that fans in the audience (and those watching online) went wild. Then, when the original was released knights of the old republic Director Casey Hudson is attached to the project and enthusiasm is through the roof.

It's reasonable to assume that a game of the scope and scale of Fate of the Old Republic will take a long time to develop, and a 2030 release year makes sense. It's disappointing that gamers have to wait so long to experience the next chapter in the Old Republic franchise. But that's exactly what many of the Game Awards trailers do. They create hype for very early stage projects. Or at least we thought so.

Regardless, Casey Hudson and the development team likely have every intention of getting the game into players' hands as quickly as possible.
