Black Ops 7 is the worst reviewed game in the series.

Between the AI calling card of one of the most controversial campaigns in series history, fierce competition from Arc Raiders and Battlefield 6, and Game Pass potentially hemorrhaging sales like it did last year, it's safe to say that Call of Duty: Black Ops 7 isn't doing well.

Already facing historically low peak player counts and plummeting user review scores within its first week of release, it took the crown from Modern Warfare 3 as the worst-reviewed mainline Call of Duty.

Black Ops 7 Metacritic user scores page, showing a score of 1.6.
At least on PC the score is 0.1 points higher?

Users have criticized everything from its “predatory” business model to campaigns like “skibbidi toilets”, calling it a “complete failure” and “the worst CoD ever.”

“What was once one of the best, most immersive war games on any console has been turned into a cash grab AI and skin-centric nightmare,” said Rowey710.

“Call of Duty: Black Ops 7 is a critical failure of a campaign with a decent multiplayer mode,” wrote AdrixStrifeNeo. “This ‘sequel’ is a soulless, always-online, co-op-enforced mess that actively punishes solo players without pause features, AI support, and aggressive AFK timers.”

Things aren't going so well on Steam either. Black Ops 7 is sitting at 'mixed' user review scores, with many complaining that the studio is “out of touch with what players want” and blaming “AI-generated slop”. “Buying this game was literally the worst use of money I have ever experienced. [made] “For the 22 years I’ve been alive,” September said.

Given that most of the criticism has focused on the campaign, it's hard to imagine that Black Ops 7 can dig itself out of this hole, no matter how good post-launch support it gets. Time will tell. As of now, this is the worst reviewed entry in the series.
