You can rehome a retired cat or donate it to one of the game's many characters to unlock new upgrades or items. What to do with your retired cat will depend on the answers to several questions.

Retired cats will have a small crown to the left of their name, as shown in the screenshot above. This is an easy way to identify them, especially when your home starts to get very crowded with feline friends.
When to keep your retired cat home
The first thing to consider is whether your cat is 'good' or not. If it has powerful abilities, high stats, and is generally a top specimen, you'll want to keep it at home. There are several reasons for this. First, the kittens raised by this cat are likely to inherit powerful stats and one or more abilities. Therefore, the more strong and powerful retirement cats you have, the better kittens you will get every day.
Second, without going too deep into spoiler territory, just because a retired cat can't go on an adventure doesn't mean the fight is over. As you progress deeper into the game, you'll find yourself fighting house battles where you'll have to use your cat to defeat tough bosses. Removing your strongest retired cats can leave you severely short on firepower in these fights, so make sure you keep them around for when a fight comes.
When donating a cat to an NPC
After sifting the wheat from the chaff of retired cats, you need to determine which cats meet the requirements of each NPC. mugenics. Tink is immediately ruled out because they only take kittens. However, other NPCs have the following requirements for cat donations:
- disable: Cats who went on an adventure. He wants 20 of each ‘milestone’ at a time. Select an area and he will ask for cats that have ventured to areas much further from home. Butch offers inventory upgrades every time you meet your cat donation quota.
- baby jack: Injured cats. These injuries can occur in battles during adventures or fights between domestic cats. Baby Jack rewards you by selling furniture that allows you to have a better cat, which in turn allows it to run further.
- candid: Retired cat. This makes Frank a great option for getting rid of cats that haven't reached the specific areas Butch requires and aren't particularly strong. He helps you have more cats by adding rooms to your home.
- Tracy: All cats over 5 years of age. Tracy is a good choice for cats who were once the strongest cat but have fallen down the ranks as they progress through the game. Tracy is worth donating your cat as she provides an empty collar and food storage upgrade.
- doctor beanie: All cats with mutations. This can be very difficult to achieve at first, so it shouldn't be an overly high priority as you progress through the game. He offers side quest items that can yield powerful rewards, but also have tricky requirements to properly unlock.
In summary, it's a good idea to keep your best retired cats at home and donate them to each NPC whenever the cat meets their requirements.
Personally, to improve cat breeding, I give priority to retired injured cats to Baby Jack, and when possible, other cats to Frank, Butch and Tracy. Dr Beanies are a last resort. This is because many of his side quest items contain negative modifiers that must be dealt with before you can receive the appropriate reward for your cat donation.
